Merseyrail don't seem to run their network for the benefit of passengers.
As soon as trains become 5+ minutes late, semi-fast running kicks in to protect their difficult to maintain timetable.
My experience today takes the biscuit. The train to Chester didn't stop at Hooton despite being...
I've just received a email informing me that I have a free upgrade fron Standard to Premier. It's a very useful perk.
It seems that all Club Eurostar members will receive a voucher each year.
It's jackpot day on Miseryrail. According to their Twitter/X feed there are delays on the Chester, Ellesmere Port and all Northern Line routes due to 3 broken down trains. The reliability does seem to be getting worse (if possible), not better.
My Eurostar to Amesterdam departed St. Pancras 8 minutes late. It arrived in Bruxelles 8 minutes early. Journey time of 1 hour 49 minutes.

I'm travelling from Liverpool Lime Street to Euston on a Club Avanti freebie. It looks likely to run on time so hopefully no problem. If my train arrived an hour late or more would I be entitled to compensation, e.g. a new free ticket/the theoretical cost of the ticket £67.20) or would Avanti...
There is no sign that the reliability of the new trains is improving. There have been delays on the Chester/Ellesmere Port line just about every day since before Christmas due to train faults. Add the occasional signal problem to the mix and the service is not not fit for purpose. My local...
Eurostar are making changes following the merger with Thalys. The Eurostar app updated today and I note that the travel categories have been renamed. An example is Standard Premier is now Comfort. What concerns me is that I get the strong impression that there will no longer be any complimentary...
NMBS are laying on extra trains to the coast this weekend due to the expected high demand during the hot weather. Not unusual for Belgium. If only we had such flexibility in U.K. to respond to high demand.
I intend to travel from Paris to Milan on 15th June at 07:30. Tickets up to 8th June for this train have been on sale for some time. I've presumed that later dates are not on sale yet due to the timetable change.
I did my regular check this morning and was a bit concerned to find that tickets...
I'm travelling to Belgium in December and have already booked my connection from London to Liverpool. The Avanti app shows tickets to/from London Eurostar (CIV). I booked an advance from London Eurostar (CIV) to Liverpool Lime Street accordingly. Since then I'e been in conversation with The Man...
As has been discussed at length here, Avanti are only releasing their timetables a few days in advance. I'd booked a trip from Lime Street to Euston tomorrow before the 8th August. This meant that my seat reservation was cancelled. My train is timetabled to run so I used the change journey...
Avanti is not the only basket case on the network at the moment. Cancellations galore.
My local station is Spital and last week 37 services failed to stop at this and other stations in this section due to late running. This happened on rare occasions in the past, but now any train that is 5+...
First rail trip since March 2020 and I was caught in the signalling problems near Milton Keynes. I was traveling on an off peak return Liverpool to Euston. The journey took 5½ hours. I had an off peak return so am entitled to the full value of the return ticket in compensation. Returning to...
I have Northern Rail travel pass which I received after suffering a delay. I'm travelling from Cark to Liverpool Lime Street tomorrow via two Northern trains. Is the pass valid for the whole journey (it states valid for one journey) or just one leg - i.e Cark to Preston?
Mod - split from this thread.
I'm going on holiday to Belgium on 27th December. We normally drive but this year we'd like to travel by Eurostar. Tickets go on sale in June. I live in Wirral so it would be WCML. When am I likely to find out if I'll be able to get to London by train that day?
I purchased Advance tickets through Virgin for this Saturday 15th.
09:36 - Liverpool Lime Street
10:27 - Preston (Lancs)
Train (NORTHERN)
10:41 - Preston (Lancs)
11:45 - Carlisle
Train (VIRGIN TRAINS)
The 9:36 is now cancelled due to the strike. What are my options?
There is a 9:15...
I'm on 15:05 from Euston to Liverpool LL which left on time. I'm on a 1st class ticket but there is no catering/shop at all because the crew are displaced. Can I claim compensation?
Hello, a long time lurker from Wirral. Trainspotter at Mollington Street, Birkenhead in the last days of steam.
I've booked a CIV protected ticket from Liverpool Lime Street to London depart 12:47 arrive 15:04. I've also booked Eurostar depart 16:01 arrive Paris 19:20. So that is 57 minutes...
