As part of the debates and arguments about the current Industrial action, drivers are getting brought up a lot (even though largely irrelevant).
The distribution of money and privatisation comes up a lot with people saying we wouldn't be paid as much if nationalised and that if we get payrises...
Best way of doing this?
Got free travel on Abellio GA so can either go via Peterborough or London.
Out 24th April arriving around 1500, returning 25th leaving around 1500-1600
If I use National Rail enquiries I can get an advance ticket out £15 and back £19 from/to Peterborough. Yet when...
One of those thoughts while at work..
Where I live (in my lifetime) has always had traction without a gangway connection at each end, (Ignoring the 156/153,315,317s,309, okay maybe I didn't think about this?), The 321, 360, 312 etc.
However the Southern region seems to favour gangway...
I know the TOC's don't own the trains themselves so surely do not pay for new ones?
I see a lot of people posting on Twitter about certain franchises saying for example "Virgin should run this service because they have better trains etc etc" but surely if Virgin took over a certain franchise...
I understand trains have to stop at the specific stop board at stations.. But at the end of the line is there a certain distance from the buffers or is it up to the driver how close he gets?
Maybe someone could quote a rulebook or give a link.
Thanks
David
I'm making a representation on Train Sim of 4M93 which runs from Felixstowe to Lawley Street. I was doing some researching and noticed a lot of these intermodal trains can be longer than 30 mixed FTA/FSA and FEA wagons. Surely Felixstowe North isn't long enough for these trains?
Does the loco...
Looking at the timetable for the Sizewell train it stops at Marks Tey for about 6minutes. On OTT it says "Stops to attach or detach vehicles".. Is this true? If so what does it do? It's usually two 20's or two 37s and one or two FNA wagons. So what is it detaching?
Or is it just a quirk of...
I was looking for some class 37 workings and found out how awesome http://c37lg.co.uk/ is.
I found some interesting services I wanted to look into, but upon searching OpenTrainTimes or Realtime Trains on the same date and times I couldn't see the services at all. I tried quite a few with no...
I know Freightliner only have a handlful of 86's now but I often see them taking intermodal trains past Colchester. What timetables are these? Any recently or coming up?
Same with class 90's..
I am assuming they run as far as Ipswich where motive power is changed?
Just a curiousity.
I recall there being a Lowestoft to Liverpool Street service using a Class 170 but can't find it on any timetables. Does GA still provide this service or did it end with a previous franchise?
I could swear Class 170's still go through Colchester now and then.. but if so...
I'm sure most of us are interested in trains/the rail industry as we've signed up on a rail forum... but when going for a career in rail how much can you let this across?
In researching train driving vacancies before and since I applied and entered the process i've noticed people tend to say...
I applied April last year for a Greater Anglia trainee driver position. It's taken this long to get to the driver manager interview stage, although i'm still waiting for the date after passing all other tests and interviews.
Theres been such gaps between tests I almost become lazy with...
This is something i've noticed more so recently since applying for a trainee driver role. Just how much of the public know so little or have the wrong idea?
I know hairdressers aren't good examples, however on both occasions i've gone for a haircut before interviews i've heard such mind...
I couldn't help but ask this.. why not? :p.
While thinking about train drivers, myself and the woman wondered what happens if the driver needs the toilet?
It seems one of those things you'd not really think about. When you get trained is there guidance on drinking and toilet breaks? I can...
