Travelling to Thessaloniki later this month and hope to have some time to explore the local railway scene.
Are there any decent spots to photograph trains in an around the city?
The city seems to have a relatively limited passenger service. Is there much freight?
Is any of the metro above...
BBC reporting this incident at Tenby last night. Not clear if it was passengers or just local teenagers hanging around the station. Last couple of trains yesterday seem to have been cancelled as a result.

After taking photos on a Canon 850D I transfer the photos from the SD card onto an external drive. Recently some of the photos have not transfered properly first time but will subsequently transfer.
Opening them using Windows Photo Viewer from the external drive I am getting the error message...
No idea what happened except for the details in this report taken from Rail Advent - guessing it is at the more serious end of the spectrum given that RAIB are involved. Good to see no one harmed...
Spanish rail passengers disrupted again - this time by cable theft. What are the rules on selling metal in Spain?

Travelled on this little railway last week whilst on the Algarve. It links the village of Pedras d`el Rei with the nearby beach 1.3km away. Two train sets (of two carriages each) operate in push pull mode with a diesel loco at the beach end. there is a third loco and a wagon to complete the...

Travelled today from Southall to Greenhithe using a Network Card. Ticket office was able to issue the ticket with the appropriate discount but was unable to discount the Plusbus ticket from Greenhithe. I thought that Plusbus tickets were exempt from the £13 minimum fare applied to Network Card...
Travelling to Cyprus for a week's holiday.
I'm aware that over the years various British buses have been exported to the island. Does anyone have any information about what is out there and where it sees use please?
This story has appeared online. Interesting to see if at the end of three months (conveniently just after the Mayoral election) if it is quietly forgotten or remains a permanent feature of the fares landscape in the capital. Wonder how much of a difference it will make to passenger numbers...
This story is currently running on the BBC website. IMHO a bit of a 'non story' as there must be plenty of places across the network where the train does not offer a competitive journey time compared to buses.

During a recent trip to Ulster I noticed that the level crossing at Coleraine station incorporates a road junction (Streetview shows it clearly). This means that road traffic regularly has to stop across the running line. Obviously the way the crossing is worked will mean that cars won't...
BBC London has just shown a picture of a 378 wrapped for this weekend’s Pride. It also mentioned that an Elizabeth line unit has received a similar wrap. Any ideas on the unit numbers please?
On Friday (2 June) I advanced purchased a zone 1-6 Travelcard with Network Card for Saturday (3 June) from the ticket machine at Ealing Broadway. There are two types of machine at Ealing Broadway. One wouldn't let me buy for Saturday, only allowing Friday or Monday (next working day). The...
