On Friday (2 June) I advanced purchased a zone 1-6 Travelcard with Network Card for Saturday (3 June) from the ticket machine at Ealing Broadway. There are two types of machine at Ealing Broadway. One wouldn't let me buy for Saturday, only allowing Friday or Monday (next working day). The other machine allowed me to change the time of travel and get it issued. When I came to use it on Saturday I kept getting error code 11 on the gateline and having to get the staff to let me through. Most just waved me through although one particularly officious staff member at Tottenham Court Road insisted I put the ticket through a second time and made a great show of getting her phone out checking the date! Despite telling me the ticket was reading as out of date she made no offer of swapping it for one which would work.

My question is how can the ticket get the wrong date embedded in the strip?IMG_20230604_120704.jpg

I believe I have seen posts about it before and looking at the ATOC document about the encoding, some machines set the expiry date of the card to the issue date. I wonder if that ticket you have would have operated a barrier on Friday (despite it obviously not having printed validity).
