I go up from Stratford to Ipswich off-peak on a weekly basis.
Advance tickets have been £11 £14 and £17 return with a senior travel card on the GA app. Recently these have disappeared, and they are £22 to £30+; a huge increase.
It's not that the trains are busier, if anything the opposite...
When you book an off-peak return on the Greater Anglia main line it tells you that the first possible M -F train you can take leaves Stratford ( London) at 0937.
But if you go to the Tickets page and check the availability of off-peak returns this train is excluded with availability starting...
Seems the seats on the not-so-old S stock trains are getting threadbare and worn looking already. The material isn't the same as used on other Tfl stock. Was it an 'economy measure' that didn't work out? I hope the people who are handling the orders for new trains are aware of just how badly...
Security checking of Eurostar passengers' baggage at Gare du Nord has passed from the border police to a private security firm.
There are considerably fewer of them on duty and from the profile of the staff it seems like this is a money-saving operation.
They don't really know how to talk to...
Something up with Overground info?
The Tfl Journey Planner status page showed no trains to Enfield and Cheshunt for today last night ( not talking about the Chingford bracnh, I'm well aware of that).
But this morning trains were running except the indicators had all the wrong times on them ( at...
Does anyone know of any plans for Stamford Hill Station? Whilst northbound Overground passengers can luxuriate in a 1960's brick-built ex-BR Eastern Region waiting shelter the one on the southbound platform has been caged off and occupied by a number of brooms and shovels for what seems like...
What was happening this evening on the Lea Valley service from Stratford? This was the bit of it I caught.
Bishops Stortford train from Stratford cancelled. Indicators showing wrong information and driver unsurpised by this.
No sign of a following Meridian Water service. No announcemnts. Guy in...
Wondering what the busiest and largest unstaffed stations in the UK might be.
Kicking off the post with two Lea Valley possibilities - Lea Bridge @ 617,000 entries and exits in 22/23 and Meridian Water, built in anticipation of still unfinished building development with lifts, permanently...
Newspaper report that the Wortley Curve is up for sale in an auction.

Posts in infrastructure indicate that the GWR main line is suffering from all sorts of problems and reliablity has gone right down. Disruption to Elizabeth line services is often
caused by problems there too.
So doesn't this pose the question: Would the Elizabeth line work better, at least in...
We are seeing a lot of ads for RailSail to Holland (now sadly truncated of course) but why not a RailSail ticket to France via Newhaven?
It wouldn't hurt either the Newhaven branch or ferry to have a few more passengers and it's the only easy train-boat interchange left to France.
At present...
As we know, Greenford station is run by Tfl and the Greenford branch by GWR. For as long as I can remember it's been pretty difficult to see if and when trains were running at ground floor level. There was a single timetable poster usually obscured by a mobile Tfl sign. Now there is nothing at...
The video display panels in the Eurostar I was on today was still telling passengers they had to wear face masks. Which of course was being totally ignored.
Also advertising meal and breakfast deals in the buffet car at a cheaper price than they charge now e.g. £6 for breakfast , now £6.80. I...
The levelling up funding annoucment included 14m for doubling the frequnecy of trains to Belmont to serve the development of the Royal Marsden Hospital Oncology Centre.
Didn't specifiy if this was for bringing the second platform back into use or subsidising extra services.
London Overground recorded announcement that customers should change for international trains as we drew into Stratford last night.
Do they know something we don't or is that wishful thinking
The eastboiund platform 5 at Ealing Broadway is now really busy with the Elizabeth line service as well as the GWR trains to Paddington. But it's only got a very short canopy and there's a lack of shelters going down the platform. Bit of an oversight? Are there any plans to improve things?
There were a lot of complaints when SWR cut trains on the Waterloo - Dorking service
Is there any potential for putting these back but going up the West London line and turning them back
as soon as poss,Watford Junction perhaps, to complement the Southern service?
