Was planning on going to Wales at the end of the month to visit family which would involve talking the Sleeper to Crewe. But being 15 and not long coming up 16 I wouldnt be able to do this as Serco dont let under 16s travel alone? Is there a reason for this - when I can easily travel the same...
Since Scotrail are getting some HST sets in 2017 being replaced by the Class 800/801 wouldnt it make more sense to use the MK4s and DVTs getting replaced aswell, and getting 68s or other locos to haul it? Reason being is that the Mk3 coaches need quite a bit of refurbishment with the addition of...
(Don't know if this has already been covered somewhere within the form so please mention if it is so)
As a regular commuter between Scotland and England, I am ecountering more situations where children are often loud and disruptive in carriages. By children I mostly mean younger kids and babies...
Going to Newcastle from Perth today, Leaving at 16.00 and getting the Aberdeen-Kings Cross service at Edinburgh at 17.26. As it's one of 3 trains to London from Aberdeen, wouldnt the chances of getting a seat be slim? Would I get a better seat if I were to board at Inverkeithing...
Stations between Dundee and Arbroath are some of the least used in Britain: Balmossie, Moniefieth, Barry Links, Golf Street, even Springfield near Cupar. What is the purpose of these stations, which only receives 2 services per day, 1 early in the morning and 1 late at night. Apart from...
Are BR Staff Railcards eligible to use on the new Serco Caledonian Sleeper and Virgin East Coast? Currently they can be used on all services in the UK including the current Scotrail Caledonian Sleeper and East Coast, even London Underground, but not the Night Riviera. The new Caledonian Sleeper...
Why does one of Scotrails 158s have a mixed interior? The first class is the old BR SWT seats. Standard class is Arriva and the fold up seats next to the doors are red SWT. Not to mention the signs which are part Welsh.
Boarded the Caledonian Sleeper yesterday at London. Left ontime at 21:15. All seemed well until we came to a stop at Rugby. We sat for half an hour as the coaches sat dead as it kept on vibrating and stoping every 10 minutes. We were off again after 30-45 minute All seemed well then we came to a...
My worst one was when I was on the way to London for the Scotland-Brazil game at Emirates. Boarded The Highland Chieftain at Perth. No Problems until we made an unscheduled stop at Durham. Due to a missing signal part, we were up and running an hour later. Then at Darlington the problem got...
Sorry if there's already another thread on this by the way.
As we all know Scotland are holding a referendum in 2014. Will it affect the ECML/WCML if we all vote Yes ? Do you think we need to show passports and do security checks ? I know it's probably a bit early to ask. I must admit I hope...
The service from Plymouth to Aberdeen should run as Eight or Nine coaches and should split at Edinburgh. The Aberdeen portion will go via Markinch and Leauchers, and the Inverness portion continue to Haymarket, Falkirk, Stirling, Gleneagles, Perth and stations to Inverness.
Same on the way back...
Are Scotrail still planning on using the Shop car on the 170/3 (former Hull Trains) ? I remember they tried selling food in it a couple of years ago but I've not seen anything since then.
I would just like to say no matter what forum this is , it should be important to show respect for those who died 12 years ago today. RIP those who died on that faitful day ! RIP, GBNF !!!
Does anyone think a sleeper to Wales might be popular ?? Edinburgh to Swansea/Aberystwyth

On the way to London for the "Auld Enemy" Left Perth at 6am. Caught the Voyager sitting at Greenhill Junction at about 7am on the Cumbernauld Down Line with headlight as if it were going to Stirling. What was it there for and Why ?
Let me start this off by saying that I think Perth station is in need of a large refurbishment. It's old, deserted and dirty. The Victorian roofs look like those off a haunted house.
