I hope I'm on the right forum here, and as ever this is for when normality returns, not now.
Suppose I get on a Thameslink train at Kings Cross. I then go as far south as I can on Thameslink, get off and catch the next train and go as far north as I can, before returning to Kings Cross.
What...
They must have a plan for this, it may even have happened?
So imagine the tube is totally without power. How do they get everyone out?
Do they keep diesel shutters especially for this? Or battery powered ones?
Or do people simply have to walk to the nearest station?
I've no idea why I can suddenly remember this. Like many people I'm furloughed at the moment with too much time on my hands :D
About three years ago I caught a train with my friend from New Cross Gate station in Peckham to Whitechapel where we changed for the city centre.
I recalled at the...
Hi, I can't believe I can't find this information on either Trent Barton or Arriva websites. Perhaps someone here can help.
How much are the weekly and monthly tickets on the X38 from Burton city centre to Derby city centre?
Absolutely not at the moment, when this is all over.
I can only see the options of changing at Birmingham, Euston and Green Park or going via Derby and St Pancras which has the advantage of reducing the number of changes to two but seems less direct somehow.
Is there any other way I might...
I seem to remember reading somewhere that one of the reasons the tube is so hot is that the heat has built up over the years and has nowhere to go.
I know this isn't a full shutdown but will the tube be cooler when this is over?
Yes I know it's a ludicrous route- presumably I have to go in and out of BHM. And yes I know there is a bus, but I live very very near Burton Station and nearly a mile from the bus route. Coupling that with a massive preference for train over bus travel make me consider the train.
So, could I...
Obviously the cost would run into many billions. The indirect economic cost could be many times that. But can anyone see a scenario where they eventually rip out the tube, make the tunnels bigger and re-lay it? It would solve a lot of problems, from capacity to the heat of mid summer.
Is...
The 18:45 Derby to Edinburgh train is delayed for this reason that I've never heard before. Must be a fairly serious disturbance because it's a 49 minute delay.
Anyone know more?
Starting this Tuesday at 7.30 on ITV. I don't know about STV or UTV.
It may not tell us much we don't already know about the T&W Metro, but it's nice to see one of the main light rail systems outside London get a look in.
The first train from Burton to Derby is at 6.51 am.
That's not exactly late, and admittedly the first train south is earlier, at 6.20 am but I'm sure trains ran earlier in years gone by.
I'm going down to London to (hopefully) celebrate on election night.
Since hotels are expensive, I might just brave a few hours in an all night cafe or just ride the night buses.
What time do they open up at St Ps?
I get a really rubbish mobile signal in my flat, but just at the end of my street there's a mobile mast.
It clearly isn't an O2 mast!
Is there any way of finding out who owns it, or is it just a case of trying different network SIMs til I get lucky?
I'm guessing Burton is one of the larger towns without any direct trains to London, but we do have a plethora of alternatives via Derby, Tamworth and Brum.
We also have three direct trains to Reading in a morning. Will Crossrail make this a viable alternative to London?
My XC train goes through Peartree every morning, but of course doesn't stop.
Has this always been the case, or did Peartree once have a more regular service.
I've always brought weekly tickets before now, but I'm going monthly, which you can't buy by machine.
To save myself a queue on Monday, could I go along to Burton station today or tomorrow and buy a season ticket to start on Monday? I already have the photocard , just need the ticket.
I got out of work a bit early tonight so I decided to get the train before my usual one. Got on, couldn't find a seat but was happy to stand the short distance from Derby to Burton. But something didn't feel right. With seconds to spare I clocked the passenger information board and realised the...
