Alternatives to Gmail and outlook

Hi, I'm looking to set up a second email address. I don't want to use Outlook and I'm already on Gmail.

What's the number three webmail provider?

Gmail is by far and away the best. While logged into one account I can send / receive from another. Takes a minute to set up but absolutely seamless once it's working.

You could also try Zoho. Heard some good things about their free service.

I’ve got Yahoo and fine it fine. Although I can’t think of any reason why you couldn’t set up a 2nd account with Gmail - I’m sure you can do it with Yahoo.

I've created several accounts with Gmail, so there's nothing stopping you from doing so.

Yep, you can have as many as you like, and Google doesn't make it too hard to switch between them, either (it's much better than the very clunky way M$ do it, unless you just add them all to desktop Outlook).

You say that, but switching between Gmail accounts was an absolute pain in the backside while I was at university. Though I did find a workaround for emails by using the Franz app.

Yahoo is good but dare I say it - so is AOL. I still use AOL

Would it be unfair to say that the Yahoo web client has far too many ads for my liking?

I don't know when you were at uni, but it has improved substantially in terms of ease of switching accounts relatively recently. You used to have to log out and back in to do it.

I was still having that issue this year. Although perhaps it is specific to the "Student Gmail" service that Google provides.

Indeed, on my phone within the browser is just three "clicks" and it's switches between accounts. (Menu, drop-down of email addresses, select email address).

I need to repeat; if you set it up correctly from the outset you won’t even need to keep switching accounts. You can use one Gmail account from within another.

It depends on what the correct setup is for you, for me it's to keep them separate.

Is this something that you want to allow different people to manage the accounts, or are you trying to keep something hidden from someone who may see your online activity?

I like how you jump to conclusions like wanting to hide online activity! It couldn't be as simple as wanting to keep business and pleasure seperate.

It could be - sharing addresses in Gmail would be fine for keeping business and pleasure apart, if it's only one person looking to manage the accounts.

As for anything else - I'm not here to judge, just advise.

I have an account for each of my children to manage their tablets, in time I may well be that I give them the account.

As I currently have to approve each program that they install there's no need for me to be able to have my email account cluttered with emails about this as well.

Personally, I would continue to use Gmail and filter the emails from the other accounts; you can set-up folders and skip notifications for these emails, checking them when you feel the need. It's what I did with my children, handing over the keys to the account when they were responsible enough to manage it. You can easily add yourself as an administrator for a different Gmail account and hive it off later.

If you're looking for free email, then mail.com, which is part of 1 and 1 have email addresses over a number of domains and it may not be too late to get your kids an email in their name.

Alternatively, buy a cheap domain and an email hosting package.

Further to this, many business/education accounts do not allow email forwarding.

AOL and YAHOO one and the same Company now...Verizon, AOL is in the Top Ten of email accounts recommended. think Yahoo is there too.
