I've had an email from a gentleman who attempted to buy an Island Line Day Ranger from Bath Spa but they couldn't find it. They searched through rovers and rangers on their Avocet machine and put in the code I898 to no avail although the West Wight Wanderer was there. It is no longer listed on...
I have been passed some correspondence from a user of my rail rover website from the customer relations department of Southeastern.
It states (my bold):
The tickets are currently £60 adult, and according to BR Fares, will remain £60 from the 1st of March.
The cost of postage though is a...
During the winter timetable October 88 to May 89 I occasionally caught a train from Sheffield to Chesterfield leaving Sheffield at about 1200, it was locomotive-hauled (47) and went to Birmingham New Street and probably beyond, could anyone identify the train please?
The Euston to Manchester and Liverpool sleeper split at Stafford with the loco from Euston going forward to Liverpool.
The Liverpool to Euston sleeper was attached to the Manchester to Euston sleeper at Stafford.
The loco that worked from Manchester going forward to Euston.
So did the loco that...
Would anyone be in possession of a supplement to either the Eastern Region YE/YJ or London Midland CX freight timetables for January to May 1983 to able to check the timings of the following through Chesterfield?

Did the HST power cars and trailers lose their prefixes when they were repainted into Inter City livery or were they removed earlier whilst still in blue and grey. After 40 years the memory is not like it once was.
Thanks.
Looking at fares for the Thames Rover there seems to be a discrepancy.
For the 3 day ticket the railcard discounts for 16-25, Disabled, Two Together, Family & Friends, HM Forces and Network are shown as £37.90 but for Senior and Veterans it is £36.90.
Also the child discount for the Network card...
I've been studying Roger Harris's "Allocation History of BR Diesels and Electrics (3rd edition)" and from my own observations in the 1980s there are occasions when class 20s have been observed supposedly allocated to different depots e.g. 20019+20056 Toton and Bescot respectively throughout...
Based around Southampton it's valid from Romsey as far as Winchester and Burlesdon on the Fareham line plus the Hythe Ferry. Costs £13.50 adult

I acquired this photograph many years ago and have come across it again, would anyone like to suggest where it may have been taken? At this time 5143 was allocated to the Stoke Division, D05, so would it be Crewe Diesel?
thanks for your expertise,
Kev
Hi, as per the heading I was wondering if anyone was aware of a book or perhaps a website containing the depot allocations and dates of transfer of all diesel locomotives throughout their existence, I'm particularly interested in the 1970s and 1980s. Rather than having to trawl through endless...
Hi, I am trying to find out the exact date in 1983 that Bradford Interchange opened. All I've found so far is 1983 but no actual date. If anyone knows I'd be grateful, thank you.
Hi, could anyone explain the significance of the ground shunt signal on the left hand side of this photograph at Orpington? In particular why a yellow band?
thanks
Kev
I am trying to find out the destination of the weekday 20.30 departure from London Euston in 1987 before the 11th May timetable change.
From the 11th May it was 1F63 to Liverpool Lime Street but before the 11th May 1F63 was the 20.50 departure according to RailGenArchive
Any help would be...
Just been looking through the January rail rover price increases for 2020 and noticed that Scotrail have increased the Central Scotland Rover (CSR) by 12% from £49 to £55 and the Highland Rover (HR) by 6.7% from £89 to £95.
Last year the CSR increased by 25% from £39 to £49 and the HR by 4.7%...
It's called "Northern Explorer 55 West Day Ranger" and it's available from the 20th May.
It's only for anyone over the age of 55 and it's only valid on Northern trains. It basically covers the western side of the Northern network.
It costs £15 and stretches from Carlisle to Crewe although as...
I have been told from a very reliable source that the three Cherwell Valley Day Rangers are to be withdrawn on the 20th May, so if you're thinking of having one you'll need to do it before then.
I was trying to find megatrain fares but all I get now is the revamped megabus website. All previous links now redirect to this, even megatrain.com.
Has megatrain now gone does anyone know?
thanks
Can anyone please identify the location of this former viaduct?

It was taken 50 years ago by my late father, we were on holiday in Scotland and I think I've seen it since but I can't remember where. I have tried using Google but...
