Routeing guide update 9 Oct 2013

I am at a loss as to how the routes on maps FK and GA bear any relation to their titles. Map FK: Aberdeen to Kilmarnock and Carstairs via Edinburgh and Glasgow Only shows routes as far south as Edinburgh and as far west as Falkirk. Map GA: Stirling and Inverkeithing to Inverness and...

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) First Class service

A lot of people, including myself, use East Coast to travel between Aberdeen and Edinburgh and v.v. They are part of the overall timetable on this route and dovetail between the ScotRail services. I don't see why these passengers should be provided with a lower quality of First Class service...

    SouthEastern TM refuses valid ticket

That is not what the Rules say: 8.2 The authorised collector may require that person to make a minimum payment that is equal to the full single fare which they would have had to pay for their journey if penalty fares had not applied. The person must be given 21 days to pay the rest of the...

First Class, when its not timetabled.

The seats on these 158s are the same size and pitch, the only difference is an antimacassar and a table lamp. There isn't even a door separating First from Standard any more.

    how advance is advance

Unofficially, some TOCs will sell until midnight. The "official" deadline is, as you say, 18:00. I have recently bought Advance tickets for travel the next day at 22:00 (this was for East Coast tickets, using the East Coast website).

    Caledonian Sleeper walk-up tickets

I had no ticket originally, and the booking office said that the reservation system had closed when I asked for availability. Hence why I bought a berth inclusive ticket at the train side. £125 is the correct fare for Euston to Edinburgh for this ticket. But it is also possible to buy a berth...

    Caledonian Sleeper walk-up tickets

I bought a berth ticket at the train side for Thursday night's Euston to Edinburgh sleeper. I told the attendant/ticket seller that I was travelling through to Aberdeen. Besides being only allowed to pay in cash, I was told that it was not possible to issue a through ticket to Aberdeen and...

    Edinburgh-Kyle using Scotrail Club 55

EDB-KYL will be on a SVR, so the journey has to be re-started by 1200 the following day. With the current timetable, the answer is that yes, you could catch the second INV-KYL train because it departs at 1101.

    Some Sleeper Questions

Franchisees can't decide what services they want to run or not. Sleepers are required in the current ScotRail franchise, which runs until November 2014. It is a decision for the Scottish Ministers to make as regards any changes to the sevices being run.

    New NFM 04

Yes they are - ask at the ticket office. Nobody said that the prices had to be conveniently available. Compare that with where I live, there are no published bus fares for the large majority of the routes (those operated Stagecoach Bluebird). I can't even get a price list even if I wanted to...

    New NFM 04

It's more than a price list. The prices are freely available on the internet. If you want the information in a database format that can be used offline and may be quicker to use for certain purposes, and is copyrighted / database righted, I think it is reasonable to expect to pay a small fee...
