Disabled persons railcard: rules for accompanying passenger

I read the "where appropriate" as to mean "if present".

Rail beating Air for market share Edinburgh-London

I believe the poster typed "now" instead of "not", which has "now" been corrected. :p Loganair have *not* cancelled these routes.

    RailUK First Class Lounge Guide

Update on the Aberdeen lounge. ScotRail staff on site said any first class ticket permits access. Indeed there are LNER and Caledonian Sleeper logos inside the lounge (no XC though!). Access is via intercom. If no answer, go downstairs to ticket office directly below lounge, because they are...

Rail beating Air for market share Edinburgh-London

The original article seems to be based on a false premise 1. Who is measuring the overall travel demand between the two cities? The market is not comprises solely of rail + air = 100%. 2. Who is measuring how many people travel by road, either by car or by coach?

    RailUK First Class Lounge Guide

ScotRail lounge. Not sure what kind of tickets get you in, for reasons stated above. In the old lounge, access was for interavailable first class tickets and sleeper passengers. Probably ScotRail first class advance will also be allowed in (I don't think such tickets existed before Inter7City...

    RailUK First Class Lounge Guide

The new lounge at Aberdeen is now open. Located directly above the new ticket office on the concourse. Unstaffed - access is via intercom and showing ticket to a camera. Or in my case: nobody answered the intercom so I knocked on the door and asked one of the occupants to let me in. Tea /...

    Caledonian Sleeper

I can recommend a microfibre towel like this, which is both small / packable and doesn't get wet like a traditional towel. https://highlander-outdoor.com/uk_shop/fibre-soft-towel-large.html

Sticky thread with strike dates and details?

That NRE page is not comprehensive though. e.g. it doesn't (at the time of writing) mention the ScotRail RMT members' strike on Saturday 29 October, which *is* mentioned on the ScotRail site: https://www.scotrail.co.uk/plan-your-journey/passenger-disruption/industrial-action

    Any idea re. further strikes?

ScotRail RMT members have a 24 hour strike on Saturday 29 October. https://www.rmt.org.uk/news/members-updates/rates-of-pay-and-conditions-of-service-2022--scotr141022/?preview=true 2p for checking each electronic ticket... incredible this kind of negotiation is ongoing in 2022. :lol...

First class ticket bought for service with no first class (scotrail)

If we can have the OP's journey details, we can look on RTT to see which unit did the working.

First class ticket bought for service with no first class (scotrail)

The ScotRail class 170s do have first class (one compartment at each end, with 9 seats in each). Unless the service was - unusually - operated by a suburban class 170 without first class (are there any of them left?)

    Off Peak Validity

You would get to spend 45 minutes at Aberdeen station before you caught the same train back to Edinburgh! There's only one Edinburgh to Aberdeen CrossCountry service a day (there's two in the other direction, but the first is before the off peak ticket validity).

    Off Peak Validity

Except if you're CrossCountry. Aberdeen to Edinburgh Off Peak Return £58.10 Any Permitted (valid after 0915) £58.80 CrossCountry Only (valid from 0930)

LNER unreliability caused by staff shortages

It's not currently suiting passengers who travel to/from stations north of Edinburgh. But it's the railway, so who cares, as long as it suits the railway operations people, eh? Passengers are clearly not a "concerned party".

    LNER Advance Fare oddity

Northbound at Inverkeithing, the front door of coach L is on the platform by around 15m, but both doors of coach L are kept locked. Does the SDO only work on a full coach basis?
