Fare Evasion, An own Goal cannot help.

Merseyrail has (almost) all stations staffed from first train to last train, and has done for some time. This is supplemented by occasional RPI checks. Only a few (larger) stations have barriers. How does fare evasion on this network compare with other networks?

    Caledonian Sleeper

To be fair I haven’t used it since about October either. So it may well be nicer now.

    Caledonian Sleeper

You won't get into the Euston Avanti West Coast lounge unless you have Club or Caledonian Double rooms. The new Fullers pub ("The Signal Box", I think), next to the Avanti lounge, is much nicer anyway. On the train it's now called the Club Car, rather than Lounge Car.

End of the Line for Weymouth Quay branch - March 2020

Cars were much smaller and lighter then too. It was fairly easy to shove them out of the way. So even if they were in the way, fairly easy to deal with.

Edinburgh to London tickets changing to via York rather than any permitted

Thank you. I was just trying to help make things easier for anyone who might not be familiar. I agree with the other points you were making though!

More relaxed off-peak time restriction on EMR website. Does it supersede ticket retriction?

I expect that the OP has a London to Manchester Off-Peak Return, or similar. It is restriction code 9I and is valid via Sheffield. EMR obviously only considered their own off peak tickets when constructing that graphic.

Train Genius/Virgin ticketing website - data/info out of date?

Both of these are now done. There is a central data source, but it contains many fare locations and stations that you would not want to use (such as international stations, many bus fare locations, etc.). So it needs modifying.

Train Genius/Virgin ticketing website - data/info out of date?

No. it's not abandoned. Very much alive! I will ask for WOP to be added. And for the "booking ahead" dates to be updated.

Advice needed for missing my last train.

But yes, you are surely due Delay Repay (another complimentary ticket!) and perhaps also reimbursement of your reasonable costs.

Advice needed for missing my last train.

Not that it's much help now, but surely you would have been better off returning via Barrow in Furness, Lancaster, Preston and Manchester Piccadilly to get a TPE service to Huddersfield and a taxi from there? There are TPE services from Manchester Piccadilly to Huddersfield at 23.35 and 23.55...

End of the Line for Weymouth Quay branch - March 2020

Coming back from the Channel Islands in 1982 or 1983 I had the same loco to Southampton. My one and only time on the quay, but definitely fascinating to a small boy!

Questions for people who have used e-tickets

Across the country as a whole CCST (orange "magstripe") tickets have accounted for fewer than half of all tickets issued for a while now. 'Smart' tickets - which include ITSO smartcard (both pre-paid and PAYG), Oyster / Contactless, and barcode (eTicket and m-ticket, as well as those issued...

    Caledonian Sleeper

Agreed. The fact of the matter is £150m has just been spent on new rolling stock. So it’s going to be made to work, not replaced by multiple units or completely reconfigured with couchettes or something. At least not for a long time anyway. Maybe all the speculative stuff should go in a thread...

    Derby to Huddersfield question

Yes, that's fine. It doesn't matter where the service is going to, so long as your actual journey stays on the permitted route(s). Which, in this case, it would.

Kettering to Derby Off Peak Return

On map EM you can go: - Kettering - Market Harborough - Leicester- Loughborough - Derby (i.e. the direct route, of course) - Kettering - Market Harborough - Leicester - Loughborough - Nottingham - Derby - Kettering - Corby - Melton Mowbray - Leicester - Loughborough - Derby - Kettering - Corby...

    Waterloo barriers - help!

Just type your journey into nationalrail.co.uk with a via point of London Waterloo. If that ticket is shown then it’s valid. If it’s not then it isn’t.

    Caledonian Sleeper tickets

I tried just now. For the outward journey there is a ticket at £215.00. For the return journey there is a ticket at £170.00. Total £385.00. 34% off £385.00 is £254.10, so the senior railcard fare is correct. So it looks like Yorkie is right. It may be the case that there is only one solo room...
