    New 4-tier system for England

As there is no legal requirement to carry ID in this country, so no way of police proving where you are from, I'm afraid I'm calling Facebook BS.

the most over the top restrictions introduced

To be honest though Covid or no Covid it's basic politeness to wait until someone has passed on a narrow pavement. The snarky comment was uncalled for.

Our total reliance on a vaccine and putting life on hold until it's rolled out

There's a lot simpler explanation to account for the furlough extension. As it stood before, the Budget was due just as furlough came to an end. It would be suicidal for a government to be publishing a budget just at the point where mass redundancies were about to happen. This buys the...

    Return to Education

Children are still not at risk. Children with no underlying conditions do not become seriously unwell with Covid. The perceived risk is however that they can carry and spread. This is debatable, and I wouldn't like to support or dismiss this theory. There are notably fewer parents on social...

    Return to Education

This is a rare case where agree with the teaching unions. I won't allow some well meaning member of the PTA or indeed a teacher to conduct a covid test on my son. It's an invasive medical procedure, and can cause damage if done improperly. It's safe for an adult to self test because your natural...

    New 4-tier system for England

Disappointed that Dorset isn't going down to Tier 1. Not surprised that all of my other local ones are staying in Tier 2.

    New national restrictions in Wales

Here's a list from the BBC For the benefit of those using text readers, there is a list of things you can do under level 4, as a PNG image (so unquotable) including the following being open: Education Places of worship including for restricted weddings Crematoriums Community centres for...

    New national restrictions in Wales

According to the Welsh government (sorry can't quote as it's a PDF and my phone is acting up) parks and playgrounds and other such open spaces remain open at level 4.

I'm sure they'd love to speculate on upwards changes though.

Wot no leaks? I'd have expected some sort of seepage of information on the tier review by now.

    New 4-tier system for England

You can do what you like when you like. As long as you make some half arsed "apology" on Twitter afterwards. Worked for Kay Burley and Rita Ora.

He has said masks for 100 days. I think that's the only world leader to put an end date to this.

Our total reliance on a vaccine and putting life on hold until it's rolled out

So he says. However the government will say differently at the end of furlough. No prime minister, not even Boris wants mass unemployment on their watch. In addition, wouldn't we look a bit daft if we were the only country all walking around with masks on.

    Coronavirus words of the year

"an Academic says.." normally followed by some statement dreamt up by a person with tunnel vision and no social awareness.

    Vaccine Progress, Approval, and Deployment

No. It's fairly obvious that week 1 will be slower than the rest. Think rolling stock refurbishment as an example.

Our total reliance on a vaccine and putting life on hold until it's rolled out

That was me. Not all healthcare workers are done at once. The ones seeing confirmed Covid patients are being done now. Those like me who are theoretically only seeing "green" patients have to wait a bit longer.

    New 4-tier system for England

Time is fleeting though. It's now 6 days till the Xmas relaxation. If they acted tomorrow (which they won't- U turns take time to spin) it'd be 5 days. I really don't think changing the rules with hours to go would be well received by the public. The advice may change, we'll hear much more about...
