    New 4-tier system for England

Well they are Sky. We shouldn't expect any different. Of course there may be further restrictions. But there may not. Prof Gloom didn't actually say that they were likely everywhere, only that it was likely some areas may have to have further restrictions. Classic half reporting by Sky.

    Supermarkets and Covid-19

Just back from Co op. No queue, it was quiet inside. I got everything I went in for, including fresh fruit. The lady on the checkout said there had been a good flow of people all day, but no bog roll bandits or indication of any other panic buying. Hallelujah people are finally seeing sense.

    New 4-tier system for England

Glad I'm not the only one thinking this. As 99% of infections will make a full recovery, this is the equivalent of 30,000 people a day getting both shots of a vaccine.

    Supermarkets and Covid-19

I'm off to a medium sized Co op in an hour or so. Wish me luck. I'll report back.

Our total reliance on a vaccine and putting life on hold until it's rolled out

Does anyone else want to recreate the fish slapping dance from Monty Python with Boris substituting for Michael Palin?

    New 4-tier system for England

If the health secretary uses inflammatory language like "the virus is out of control" and constantly referring to it as a "mutant" rather than being more measured, then what did anyone expect other countries to do?

    New 4-tier system for England

The news conference will be to try (and fail) to explain his ineptitude over the border closures, and to attempt to keep the bog roll bandits at bay. (Andrex is made in Essex BTW so not affected by the border)

    New 4-tier system for England

We had a meal in a pub in Gurnard yesterday. They weren't fussed where we came from. We were on the Yarmouth to Lymington ferry this morning and the loading were like mid summer.

    New 4-tier system for England

Just been on the IOW ferry heading back to the mainland. It was rammed with foot passengers carrying enormous suitcases and Xmas pressies. Lots of HW plate cars packed to the gunwhales. I think the rules are being ignored now. They've gone too far, and the public are started to rebel. There...

    New 4-tier system for England

It'd probably be the same rollout speed as now, as the Pfizer one is being manufactured on demand, rather than the mass rollout as promised by the Oxford one. But all academic at the moment, as there is no evidence that the current formulations are ineffective.

    New 4-tier system for England

Any vaccine alterations would take 48 hours or so, plus manufacturing time. Not the end of the world.

    New 4-tier system for England

If there is a vaccine escape mutation, which is entirely possible, then the vaccine will have to be tweaked, which the developers have said is simple. Therefore a worst case scenario is a new vaccine every year, like the flu jab. In practical terms, the flu mutates far quicker than this does...

Our total reliance on a vaccine and putting life on hold until it's rolled out

I'm as anti restriction as anyone here. But there's a lot of nonsense being posted. All vaccine schedules are currently based on just having the Pfizer one. Once the Oxford one has been accepted, that all changes. Boris Johnson is a weak PM. He wants everyone to like him. So he's basing his...

UK cut off from EU, due to concerns over new Coronavirus strain

They wanted to distract from no deal Brexit chaos and it's worked just as they planned.

UK cut off from EU, due to concerns over new Coronavirus strain

No it won't. The military are on standby to airlift it if necessary.

    New 4-tier system for England

The very same Neil Ferguson that said back in April he thought it was OK to visit his lover because he'd already had Covid? He's the case precedent we're using for our Christmas plans. The whole lot of us across three households tested positive in November, so as far as I'm concerned I pose no...

    Media Coverage of COVID -19

There are a lot of similar stories the BBC live feed today as well. Stories of inconsolable kids. Stories of people spending Christmas alone. I've said all along that the British public will tolerate a lot, but mess with their Christmas plans at your peril.

UK cut off from EU, due to concerns over new Coronavirus strain

As I said in another thread: Coincidence? I think not. This variant has been known about in September. Why announce it now? Border chaos, blame "the mutant", not Brexit.

    New 4-tier system for England

Good point. Mass testing has started in London and the South East, has it not?
