Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

I believe they're all running out of Crawley, the Hydrogen vehicles have all left. Not sure where exactly, I heard someone say they're at Pimperne with GSC, but another said they're in Oxfordshire so who knows? But they have been seen leaving the depot so I don't think they're there currently.

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

Unless you work for them how could you know whether it's an overreaction or not? They wouldn't do this for fun.

Trivia: largest place without late evening journeys

In general I think Fleet is one of the worst connected towns in the South East in terms of bus service. A population of 45,000 and it gets an hourly daytime service to Farnborough and a 2-hourly service to Aldershot, it's pretty poor although from memory the network was larger 15 years ago.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

It'd be pretty weird if it was honestly, surely the fact Kernow isn't profitable due to massive overheads not met by such a small presence in Cornwall would be made even worse by Truronian remaining? If Truronian is continuing then presumably they're looking for/have found a new depot to cut...

    Delay Repay claims rejected

I had a similar but even more baffling one, with my GWR from Gatwick to Guildford getting delayed by an hour due to (iirc) a signal failure between Gatwick and Redhill. They rejected a delay repay claim and an appeal, saying they didn't operate the train I was getting and I should be claiming to...

Of all the unstaffed stations in the UK, which one has the highest passenger figures?

Agreed, I've used it a few times in the last few years and never saw any evidence of a ticket office, there's also not one marked on the station map.

Of all the unstaffed stations in the UK, which one has the highest passenger figures?

Is Mortlake unstaffed? 1.4 million people used it in 2023/24.

GWR Class 230 Information, Movements & Discussion.

They definitely wouldn't be good on Reading-Gatwick services. The line speed on the North Downs Line is 70mph, so a 230 would take longer to do the same journey.

    Stagecoach South & South East

I heard December a few months back, which seems plausible given Aldershot doesn't have chargers installed and no type training will have taken place most likely. Maybe a little earlier than that but I doubt there'll be any in service next week, and certainly not at Aldershot.

Optare Alero buses that are still in service.

Judging by a quick look on flickr (and some existing knowledge), Cumfybus in Liverpool were one of if not the last operator of them, they still had at least 1 running in service in December 2021. I don't think any are still in service anywhere in the UK but my guess would be they haven't seen...

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

Metrobus just had a B7RLE withdrawn for conversion to driver training, it might be that? I think East Yorkshire has done the previous conversions for B&H/Metrobus.

    First Group: General Discussion

Also the Mercedes Citaro, as Kernow has a small fleet of those for the Truro Park & Ride, albeit not for much longer with electrics arriving fairly soon to replace them. London probably also has quite a few vehicle types not represented in the main First fleet (e.g. the B5LH MCV EvoSeti) so they...

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

ah as I thought, also worth noting that YX14HDU has run for Dales & District before, prior to working in West Yorkshire.

East Yorkshire Motor Services, now part of Go-Ahead

Interesting, now I look on bustimes it's been simultaneously tracking on both the 73 and the X98/99 for the last 3 days (although looks like it didn't run many services yesterday). It sounds like you saw it in person, in which case I wonder what's on the X98/X99 tracking as the Volvo... Probably...

Ongoing lack of honesty / transparency in station late train info

A lot of what's been written on here reminds me of my experience trying to get from Gatwick to Guildford a few weeks back when the line between Gatwick and Redhill was shut due to a track failure. As the OP stated with his experience, the train I was supposed to get initially continued to say...

    Stagecoach South & South East

Yes that's one of them, and you're right they're very comfy inside. I like the 10-reg E300s they replaced on the route as they have a good ride quality to them and are mostly pretty fast but the seats are certainly a downgrade.

    Storm Floris disruption - 4/8/25

Thanks, that sounds about right. Northern don't seem too concerned just yet so hopefully their Windermere services are still running, if necessary I can get that to Manchester.

    Storm Floris disruption - 4/8/25

Northern aren't saying anything so far, do you know if they typically do similar and not operate services in a certain area in storms?

    Storm Floris disruption - 4/8/25

What are the chances that they're taking reasonable precautions here and there'll be significant disruption? I'm asking because I'm supposed to be travelling from Windermere to London tomorrow and if I don't then I'll be stuck in the Lake District without a hotel for the night!
