    Catering on New Trains

Probably just shortage of staff or for an operational reason. Happens sometimes.

    Improvements to non-major East-West links

If the Liverpool to Norwich route was ever split (and I hope it never is) I often thought that extending the Leeds-Nottingham service to Norwich would at least continue a through service as far as Sheffield. The platform extension at Leeds will allow longer than 2-cars on the route soon too.

Could Stansted to Norwich trains be lengthened?

755s cover a daily diagram on the GEML and 720s cover the Stansted Express. Twenty units were never going to realistically cover it.

    720s still reach Ely.

Could Stansted to Norwich trains be lengthened?

That was one of the original considerations when the station was constructed in the early 90s but nothing came of it.

How close does a replacement bus stop need to be to a station?

Berney Arms is simple. It doesn’t have any form of RR and the station is simply closed during engineering works etc. Brundall Gardens is served from a RR stop on Cucumber Lane approx a mile away.

Could Stansted to Norwich trains be lengthened?

That’s the trouble. It becomes an operational nightmare. Ely, flexible as it is, struggles at times for platform space.

    Station pubs (part two?)

£17 for two pints near Battersea Power Station station. Cheeky so and so tried to add a 10% service charge on top after HE said I’ll bring them to your table. No chance

If you had a chance to chat with Network Rail

I was referring to the last year or so so 2024/25.

Could Stansted to Norwich trains be lengthened?

It really is more than enough. We already regularly see 3 sometimes 4 passenger trains in each direction in certain hours during GEML blocks and footy. The ultimate plan is half hourly Cambridge-Norwich along with an hourly inter-regional which the signalling is more than able to cope with and...

Could Stansted to Norwich trains be lengthened?

You won’t see any uplift in signalling apart from the new section going in when Croxton gets upgraded from AHB to MCB-OD. That will hopefully help when GA are following a late running EMR on the down and has to wait outside Thetford to gain access to the platform. It is perfectly adequate apart...

Several call at Wymondham and Attleborough. The 15:48 ex-Norwich calls at Eccles Road & Harling Road and the first Nottingham-Norwich also stops at Brandon.

Could Stansted to Norwich trains be lengthened?

Both solid reasons why the route is not going to be split.

Could Stansted to Norwich trains be lengthened?

Yes, the schedules and available paths are very different on weekdays.

    Recent freight on Enfield/Cheshunt Line

It’s like all our yesterdays. That used to be commonplace until the late 2000s when the Goblin route got upgraded.
