I’m sure the great British public and many on here will still find something to drip about even then

Apologies for holding you up a little bit more as you caught us up until we entered the down loop at Dawlish Warren ;)

9M50 - 9 Car Pendolino Low Speed Buffer Collision At London Euston - 05/07/2025

BR would stick by staff for anything but fraud or false reporting was never tolerated.

Stockport to Manchester Airport - dedicated bus link with through ticketing?

Can only speak from my own travels over the last 30 odd years and yes there’s overcrowding but it wouldn’t bother me enough to change my travel pattern. It’s pretty straightforward.

GWR Cornish Night Riviera Sleeper and GWR Class 57 updates from Long Rock

From what was mentioned on another group an incident caused the driver to be late travelling down from Plymouth who then required a PNB before working 1A50 beds.

GWR Cornish Night Riviera Sleeper and GWR Class 57 updates from Long Rock

Not sure what the issue was but last nights up Sleeper departed Penzance 111L late. Thankfully only 13L into Paddington but obviously not the best start for those waiting to board through Cornwall and at Plymouth.

Stockport to Manchester Airport - dedicated bus link with through ticketing?

I don’t get what’s the issue with going to platform 13/14 at Piccadilly. At least it’s got travelators to assist. That’s not the case walking to the bus stop at Stockport. Also most of the time it would be a simple cross platform change.

9M50 - 9 Car Pendolino Low Speed Buffer Collision At London Euston - 05/07/2025

Totally agree but then some incidents that are your fault can make you a better driver. Certainly worked for me and although I wish a couple of my incidents hadn’t happened there’s no point having regrets. Just come out of it stronger, that’s if you remain employed of course.

You’ll like both the 805s & 807s. Very pleasant units to travel on.

    Beaulieu Park Station Construction

They've put up with them for the last 30 plus years

    Beaulieu Park Station Construction

Yes no plans for us to stop but just like Hatfield Peveral, Marks Tey and the others we can and will stop if necessary. 1751772710 That is the plan from what I’ve been told. May replace Ingatestone for Intercity transfers even if the line is open as far as there.

    Beaulieu Park Station Construction

You’re welcome. We would ignore them anyway at this location as driving class 755s. It wouldn’t be possible to move the TPWS as this relates to the two additional signals on 9/10 that protect the scissor crossover within those platforms.

    Beaulieu Park Station Construction

No it’s because it was found 745s could sit over the TPWS loops at the country end preventing the driver setting up that cab. I did forget a couple of times in the early transition days but luckily got away with it. I went straight to the back cab after arrival just incase.

    Beaulieu Park Station Construction

Yes we stop at the normal 12-car or 745 stop boards with the triple traction. Only difference is platform 9/10 at Liverpool Street when we can go closer to the buffers and ignore the slightly shorter 745 markers.

    Beaulieu Park Station Construction

Must be a Great Eastern thing as us Anglia Railways drivers haven’t been instructed to do so. We will have no booked stops here but noted yesterday a 3-8 car stop board amongst others as I crawled up to a red at the end of the UM platform.

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

I’ve got a friend who grew up in Cambridge and later joined the railway after leaving College in the 1980s. He’s amazed every time he returns at the amount of trains calling and passenger volume when he returns. It’s about to get busier still with Cambridge South opening, resignalling taking...

    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

That would be extremely welcome here in East Anglia. Not sure if it’s anything to do with the good value advance fares now available but trains departing Norwich seem busier than ever even during the afternoon.

    EMR Regional and Connect refurbishments

It’s a very complex route and one that has never be properly looked at or had the investment it deserves since its inception back in 1988. Even when EMT started in 2007 its unit allocation from Central Trains was woefully low leading Stagecoach to hire in additional 158s from sister TOC SWT. I...

Experiences of service recovery (or lack of) on GTR Great Northern

You have to remember the phenomenal growth in commuting and general travel into and out of Cambridge. Prior to electrification it only had a fraction of the services we know today. For example I once read that Ely only had 20 season ticket holders travelling to London.
