The Labour Party under Andy Burnham

I think the right would fight harder still, but at the end of the day we need Labour to do what needs to be done and not worry about being attacked all the time. The bot farms that ensure thousands of people spread stuff at the same time (often using the same words and images) to target...

The Labour Party under Andy Burnham

When is he going to learn that they won't like him. Ever. He could close every asylum hotel and deport every asylum seeker and the right would pretend to be outraged by his callousness.

    Thoughts on the Trump presidency

I recommend watching this entire video (it's quite long and the video title only represents part of the topic matter). It's the 'I've Had It Podcast' with two hosts discussing how the MAGA movement is now moving on by either going against Trump (as Marjorie Taylor Greene has been doing of...

Do you think there are enough British Transport Police?

I'd say we invest in more BTP to be capable of responding to more serious incidents, at the same time as giving more training to local police forces to deal with more 'everyday' issues like removing someone from a station or dealing with anti social behaviour without waiting for BTP to arrive...

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

Look on car forums and social media and the anti EV lot have already begun replying to most posts with 'enjoy your per mile charging' so word has spread at an Incredible rate. You'd be excused for believing it's already been announced and has a start date and confirmed price already! I'm happy...

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

Until announced it's hard to discuss or get outrages. I think the idea is flawed and possibly unworkable if all vehicles need extra hardware fitted (I'm not sure checking at MOT or service times and then raising a bill in one go would fly) so would want to wait and see what any proposals are.

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

Great to see that in a few years time, there are going to be some extremely good cars for under £10k on the second hand market (if not sooner). Nice to see a similar clip design to the Dacia Spring, which allows you to customise the interior (and boot) with clips, lights, holders and more. It...

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

Don't walk down Euston Road. It's very busy and there are lots of junctions. It's also going to take longer. Of course, I get that having kids running around might be a problem, but I really don't see the luggage issue. You will have to move that luggage around at some point, and presumably did...

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

It's no different to bitcoin. People are still willing to invest when the stock is rising (which it seems to do whenever Elon says anything, no matter how stupid) and I bet they're all thinking they'll get out before it all goes wrong. Some notable sales of stock have taken place, but it does...

UK switching to electric vehicles discussion

But there's an incentive to buy a more fuel efficient car and also to drive it more efficiently, as there's not a literal per mile fee. For someone who can charge at home at 6.5 or 7p, and has a lightweight EV that can do 4-5 miles per kWh, 2 or 3p per mile isn't going to be too much of a...

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

So he has promised to get 1 million Robotaxis on the road, presumably intends to find a way to start selling cars again (there was a spike for EVs bought in the US before the tax breaks ended, and the Model Y has had some limited success, but otherwise sales are in the toilet), 1 million or more...

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

But I am not talking about the Euston Road walk, which has loads of junctions. This is the clearly signed route through Somers Town. It's a very short walk and level throughout, albeit you need to walk around to get level access to and from Euston. With the recent modifications to the road...

Proposed new Channel Tunnel services discussion

I wouldn't be surprised if they announced they were going to team up with Virgin or something. 1762453486 The well marked, well lit, route away from Euston Road is a fantastic way to get between Euston and St Pancras (as well as King's Cross, Coal Drops Yard etc) and kids if any age would be...

Should TfL extend more bus routes beyond Greater London? (and wider discussion regarding redefining London)

Totally. I will resist going off topic with a long rant, but you are absolutely right, as is @izvor on garages being too small for most modern cars. There are more cars and people expect to have the right to park on a public road, ideally next to their front door, which means they won't park up...

Should TfL extend more bus routes beyond Greater London? (and wider discussion regarding redefining London)

Parking is a nightmare in Hertfordshire towns too. Even where I grew up (the Turnford end of Cheshunt), the old estate I used to play on now has zero parking which results in people parking on pavements and grass. In Hatfield, it's probably one of the top 3 complaints by people on Facebook...

Should TfL extend more bus routes beyond Greater London? (and wider discussion regarding redefining London)

I don't think investing in public transport should come at the expense of maintaining existing (and potentially new) roads. We should all be seeking to have choices, so we can walk on a nice day, cycle on another day (with secure parking facilities wherever possible), take a bus to work or the...

Should TfL extend more bus routes beyond Greater London? (and wider discussion regarding redefining London)

The way to save many services of late is massively extended the route, often covering more small roads that were once covered by other buses. This does give people more chance of having a bus, albeit a slow one, but traffic in many areas can quickly destroy the reliability and usefulness. The...

Huntingdon incident (01/11/2025) - hypothetical questions regarding alternative possible actions

Until more information is released, it's quite possible that people did try and repel and attack the offender - but on a narrow train (the aisles are quite small) it may well be hard if some people are trying to run and you're going to try and attack as a group - because there's not really a way...

Train surfers riding on the outsides of trains.

I'd all but forgotten about train surfing which seemed to have died down years and years ago (like 20+ years ago, even when stock still ran which made it easier) but we can thank social media for bringing things back as challenges, and people wanting to become famous. Many people have died or...

    Major Incident at Huntingdon (01/11/2025)

Yeah, when you have MPs like Nigel Farage speaking before getting the facts and saying he's 'just asking questions'.
