Reliability of the 802s is still a concern. I was on an 802 that arrived at Penzance on 2/3 power. It couldn't achieve more than 42mph out of Totnes up Rattery bank. Driver said he would lose more time walking back down the train to reset the engines rather than continue on low power. Similarly...

The 10.06 and 14.06 from Kings Cross to Newark are booked as electric loco on as part of a single diagram. 12.06 and 16.06 are HSTs as are the intermediate York stoppers in between. The exception is the 7.06 to York hauled by a 91. Last week 90020 and 039 were doing the Newarks.

To try and fool people that these are a completely different train from GWRs Class 800 fleet. Did they have to pay Branson to continue using the name?

I thought the majority of Newark turns were diagrammed as loco hauled stock urilising class 91s but a shortage of serviceable 91s means 90s are hired in instead?

Just seen an HST heading towards Taunton between Westbury and Taunton. I take it this is the set with a fault in the rear cab?

Or maybe the 2 plus 6 sets- leased from Angel - have different suspension dampers. The track quality in places IS variable. The declassified seats are nice and wide..plus guaranteed tables. But the seat back pitch causes me to 'submarine'. They are quite quick too - almost the equal of a 222.

GWR have just tweeted that Saturdays 18.30 Paddington to Taunton is fully booked and boarding will be denied unless you have a seat reservation. But seats still available for June 1 flying banana railtour.
