Praha-Zurich via Germany reinstated, but when will the Praha-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels night train be introduced????

I think you are confusing different things. That some countries do pay PSO is a different thing than that ÖBB has to cross-subsidize NJ operation (Which is what you wrote). It is true that the Dutch government have agreed to time-limited financing of the start-up phase and it is also true there...

Praha-Zurich via Germany reinstated, but when will the Praha-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels night train be introduced????

Do you have any basis for that information? While NJ certainly does not earn enormous amounts of money, the fact that sleeping and couchette accommodation could on most trips be sold many times over gives pricing power: NJ does not need to dump its fares, but can and will charge enough for it...

Praha-Zurich via Germany reinstated, but when will the Praha-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels night train be introduced????

While NJ do routinely sell out, seating tickets should at this time be easily available for June, so there might be some other issue (seats obviously sell out last, mostly at very short notice when travel is unavoidable and flights are sold out or too expensive).

[NO] Norske tog orders new long distance trains from Stadler.

They certainly are and using the same sets for day and night traffic certainly comes a long way to avoid one major drawback of night services, mainly that stock is only used for one service a day. However, that only works on journeys up to approx 10 hours, otherwise (and including time for...

Praha-Zurich via Germany reinstated, but when will the Praha-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels night train be introduced????

The economics of new stock will be significantly different for a product which has already been developed- and (soon) approved in most European countries. But you are right with your second point of course. If wasn’t thinking about start-ups, rather established train companies such as the...

[NO] Norske tog orders new long distance trains from Stadler.

They might have run coupled-up, but not technically in multiple mode (i.e. two drivers, which used to be common in many countries).

Praha-Zurich via Germany reinstated, but when will the Praha-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels night train be introduced????

IIRC, for the Stockholm - Brussels route, ÖBB was prepared to cooperate, but not to bid on its own. It’s just too far outside their usual patch. Concerning expansion plans: the 13 new Nj sets currently on delivery will - as we all know - run to Italy, and the freed coaches are already spoken...

Praha-Zurich via Germany reinstated, but when will the Praha-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels night train be introduced????

Yes, flight prices currently are a lot higher than before the pandemic, meaning that the NJ are quite competitive and can be priced accordingly (at least form Austria, international day trains especially to Germany also have record passenger numbers). New entrants (like the planned Brussels -...

Praha-Zurich via Germany reinstated, but when will the Praha-Berlin-Amsterdam-Brussels night train be introduced????

NightJet trains are routinely sold out at the moment. Demand strongly outstrips supply. It might get better from December on the Paris and Brussels route, which will go daily then (or during the winter at the latest), but I would still expect sold-out trains regularly. ÖBB once stated that they...

    First trip to Spain

IIRC, the security checks were first introduced in 1992 for the Madrid - Sevilla AVE, mainly due to fears of ETA bombings.

European Commission supports 10 cross-border rail projects

SBB has a legal monopoly too (or rather, an exclusive concession, with some slight exceptions). Running to Switzerland means making a deal with them - and getting them to find paths, not an easy feat in Switzerland, because the Takt comes first (as it should).

[DK/DE] First DB Intercity carriages delivered to DSB

It used to have a restaurant car, but doesn’t anymore this year - they could not cope with the voltage spikes in Italy and were out of service half the time. When the RJ2 enter service, there should be regular restaurant services again.

[NO/SE/DK] SJ aiming for a Oslo-Hamburg daytime train by 2027

Strange that they do not adhere to the international standard of 400m. But I suppose they will be long enough.

Will that station be equipped to serve long-distance passenger trains (mainly regarding platform length)?

European Commission supports 10 cross-border rail projects

My guesses: - Vienna - Budapest - Oradea/Arad (Hungarian Ministry of Transport) MAV Start LHCS, maybe ÖBB too, if it can spare stock (not much free these days) - Munich - Vienna - Budapest (Westbahn), extension of existing service The 4 CRRC-built units currently on test; the Stadler KISS...

Covid Restrictions Abroad: Updates & Observations

A mask is required on *all* public transport within Vienna (including long-distance trains, but there it is in effect unpoliced), and nowhere else in Austria once you cross the Viennese border. The Viennese position is currently being evaluated and it is very possible it will be dropped soon...
