Guys, I wondered which rolling stock will be used in the following proposed routes.

Good question, I don't think anyone know. I certainly don't. But we can guess.

If you had asked me a couple of days ago about the Hamburg-Gothenburg(-Oslo) train, I would have guessed maybe one of SJ's new high speed trains, but there has been hints about a loco hauled service. So who knows?
The Prague-Copenhagen train I guess will be an extension of the current Hamburg-Prague train.
Flixtrain will probably use whatever used coaches they can get their hands on.

For HS trains involving Germany I'd say Siemens units, for those involving France Alstom units. Although Fiat and AVE may well get some business as well.

Amsterdam-London is one to watch - logic would suggest Velaros again to complement the e320s but SNCF are now the majority shareholder of the parent company and the PBA units are of similar vintage to the e300s.

No idea about the others.

Guys, I wondered which rolling stock will be used in the following proposed routes.

My guesses:

- Vienna - Budapest - Oradea/Arad (Hungarian Ministry of Transport)

MAV Start LHCS, maybe ÖBB too, if it can spare stock (not much free these days)

- Munich - Vienna - Budapest (Westbahn), extension of existing service

The 4 CRRC-built units currently on test; the Stadler KISS used by WB cannot run under 25 kV

- Amsterdam - London, enhancement of existing service (whatever that means) (NS/Eurostar)

E320, since the E* is certainly not fully used at the moment and they are having trouble adding more services for well-known reasons, so extending more Brussels services to Amsterdam should be easily done.

- Rome - Munich, Milan - Munich (FS/DB)

Trenitalia ETR610, as stated above.

- Lisbon - A Coruña, Lisbon - Madrid (ILSA = Trenitalia)

That one I am curious about.

- Barcelona - Toulouse, Barcelona - Montpellier (Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya)

RENFE series 100.

And Flixtrain, as always: whatever is standing around in the yard:)

Flixtrain are the people who put WiFi in the former steam heating compartments of East German carriages after all.

ILSA in Portugal will be series 106, which ILSA is likely to buy from Talgo. If electrification is not complete diesel locomotives may be used between Madrid and Navalmoral or Monfragüe.

FGC will probably be a variant of the Oxygène for IC, they don't really need more than 200 maximum speed for the route and they don't want anything at all to do with Renfe.

Thank you, very interesting!

Should westbahn further expand to Switzerland

Within the EU open access legislation means that new operators like WestBahn have an equal right to track capacity with the incumbent operators.
There is no open access for passenger transport in Switzerland, so WestBahn(and FlixTrain) would have to convince the Swiss Government that their services would be of value. Unless they already have spare unused express paths, my guess is that is unlikely. The EU Commission cannot influence this either.

SBB has a legal monopoly too (or rather, an exclusive concession, with some slight exceptions). Running to Switzerland means making a deal with them - and getting them to find paths, not an easy feat in Switzerland, because the Takt comes first (as it should).

Rolling Stock and rail capacity is also an issue. Given that Feldkrich-Buchs SG is single tracked, making it impossible to strengthen services atm.

There is a problem: Is there enough ETR610s for service expansion?!

One thing that I cannot understand: why doesn't the European Commission support small cross-border lines? There are a lot of areas with really pathetic cross-border transportation: for example, the numerous Poland-Czech Republic crossings.

Perhaps people don’t want to travel across the border in these places?

Were any proposals submitted for such lines?

Bevar nattoget now claims that Copenhagen-Oslo will be operated by DSB's Talgo trains. I don't know if that is true, but it would not be good news in my opinion. Trips of that length really need some kind of food service in my opinion.
