Thanks, i didnt know thats what the name of it was. I just knew i had seen it when looking for a previous station and knew exactly where it was!
Anyway, here is my humble offering
The problem is that the dip of the coal seam being around 90 degrees to the tunnel means that any horizontal adit linking seams may pass under the railway.
I think it was the mid 1800s when mines were required to have accurate plans.
FAults are common within all coal fields, they just appear...
The problem with mining related issues is that we have very sketchy details of where workings actually are or whether they actually exist or not and to what extent they were worked in the first place.

The map above shows the line of the tunnel and how it...
Are you referring to 2 trains per hour (2tph) or 1 train per 2 hour 1(tp2h) there. 2tph is 4 times greater frequency than the other and would obviously be more useful, but would require much greater stock and person availability to run.
1 train per 2 hour is essentially useless for commuting...
You are being deliberately obtuse here i think. It is nothing like that, could you expand on how it is similar to "Derby has good connections to London and Sheffield, why does it need a line to Birmingham as well". I am suggesting that a small town with a good service to two cities, does not...
Yes. but the Okehampton line gives a 35-40 minute journey to Exeter to a place that essentially wasnt rail connected.
The Ashington line has the advantage of people who exist to use it.
There is absolutely no population here that is worth serving using the finite resources available. If Goole...
The best you could do is improve it by having services turn back at Eggborough/Whitely Bridge if they build houses there.
Anything beyond that and you are better spending the money burning it for electricity at Drax.
Thanks,
I nearly did put Harare and then thought no, thats not the right country!
What particular activities were Black Kites observed doing in Australia to flush out prey?
I remember reading about a place in Ethiopia where the locals hand fed Hyenas, on a flight to Switzerland with Ethiopian Airlines last year.
(I was on a flight to Switzerland, not the Hyenas)
No thats just Peat and compressible material.
This is something much more niche. Basically they are glacially derived marine clays. The clay particles are negatively charged and basically the whole structure is held up by the remaining positive ions (sodium etc) from the salt water. Things like...
Whilst not particularly old OS maps, when my previous company was moving offices, they decided they were going to throw out their collection of OS maps as they were completely redundant at this stage.
I may have acquired about 30 or so maps for 0 pennies.
Around the same time the local oxfam...
The problem with quickclay is that adverse loading or vibration can quickly lead to the failure, with catastrophic effects with the whole ground basically turning to liquid. These flows can go for long distances at very low angle, and i would expect the Norwegians to be very wary about what they...
Looks like a quick clay landslide. Absolutely evil stuff geotechnically, will be a difficult fix and will take more than just digging out and replacing the material.
Quick clay landslide can occur at insanely low angles.
