I now have two DR claims that TfW have approved, one of them now three weeks ago, but no sign of the payments. Normally I get a payment email almost immediately after the approval email. Although I have had an email apologising for the delay in processing the earlier claim. Both claims are...

I was hoping to take a trip on this scenic byway in Prague this week, but according to the cd.cz website the Smichov to Zlicin section is closed until November 30 for "more extensive repair of the line. Maintaining the technical condition of the line. Increasing the safety of railway...

A number of recent threads have led me to question whether the current system is up to the job. Firstly, there is the thread about the WMT & Severn Valley through journey trial. This has been stymied by the failure of RDG to get the journeys and fares onto the national journey planning system...

This morning, I bought two tickets on the Avanti website, one for today and the other for tomorrow, as separate transactions. ToD as for cross London travel. Both purchases went through, and I got collection references for both. However, when I went to the station, they couldn't find the...

Looking up train times from Porthmadog to Euston using Fastjp, I was intrigued to see it offering me routes via Bangor and Llandudno Junction, using TrawsCymru buses to reach those stations from Porthmadog (listed as "Rail Replacement" services!). Presumably this is due to TfW integrating these...

Last year, TfW replaced its JourneyCheck website with its own in-house Live Status page: TfW Live Map According to the key, a line in red is supposed to mean that 20% of trains are delayed by 20 minutes or more. The line from Dovey Junction to Borth is currently red, despite only one train...

Looking at the Open Train Times map for the Waterloo area, the signals approaching Waterloo seem to have two displays. These second displays start from Queenstown Road. The display closest to the signal shows the usual train description, the one behind shows a description of the form Pxxx...

On Friday afternoon I got caught up in the disruption to services out of Waterloo. I was on the 1730 Waterloo to Portsmouth train, which should have got me to Portsmouth & Southsea at 1905, to catch the 1910 bus for the 1930 hovercraft. If I missed that, the journey planner showed the last...

https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/why-i-avoid-e-tickets.302184/ Comments were made on the above thread about e-tickets, that paper tickets cannot be recycled due them being printed on thermal paper. But is it true? Different local authorities seem to set different recycling criteria. Where...

On a recent trip along the Cambrian Coast, I noticed one of the accommodation crossings appears to have been fitted with CCTV. It looks to be a fairly recent installation, judging by how shiny and clean everything was. It was a crossing leading to a farmstead on the estuary near...

I understand that advance fares have different tiers, and when the allocation of each tier is used up, you move to the next, pricier tier, and so on, until all allocations are used up and then no further advance fares are available for that train. But how does this work on journeys with...

I saw that there was a do travel advice in force for Gatex, Thameslink, EMR and a number of other companies yesterday, due to "multiple incidents". Anyone know what happened?

I have seen this referred to in a BBC article, titled Train delay repay rule changes to make claims easier As this is supposedly due to start in April, and we are now mid-March, presumably details must have been sorted out by now? However, it then goes on to say that trials are due to begin...

I was surprised to see no mention of the UK modelshop directory down. I found the exhibition calendar very useful. Apparently it has changed hands, but should be up again soon.

Avanti have been celebrating 50 years of Birmingham International today. Big gold 50 balloons, bunting, goodies to eat, photographer for publicity purposes. In the first-class lounge (aka staff mess room) mind, nothing from Avanti for the plebs.

Serious problems with a bridge on the NYMR mean that trains are unlikely to run beyond Goathland to Grosmont and Whitby for some time. Suggestions have been made that trains will have to be top and tailed to Goathland, as there is apparently an instruction effectively prohibiting locos...

Moderator note: Split from https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/overspeeding-at-cambridge-junction-hitchin-11-12-25.297268/ At one time, the controls for approach released from red signals would have been designed so that the junction signal would be held at yellow until the train had passed...

It seems to me that the forum's ticketing site doesn't support Welsh travel options very well, certainly compared to London. For example, holders of London concessionary passes can enter these in the forum's ticketing site to get a through itinerary, however I can't find any way of entering a...

There have been a number of recent threads about delay repay claims being rejected where the traveller has started or ended their journey short, or has broken their journey. As this seems to be a recurrent theme, I thought I would raise a generic thread about it. It appears that at least one...
