I really wish my PC would make up it's mind whether to log in as me or Gizzy. I agree the repaint is fantastic. I saw her at the LTM Depot Open Day in March and you could still see the outline of the old 'London Transport' lettering, but that seems to have been sorted now. The coaches...

Gizzy and LittleRedTrain go to Scotland

Back earlier this year, Shauna and I decided we would follow up last August’s ALR with another summer bash. Scotland was the chosen destination, as neither of us had much coverage there (in my case, none at all). The plan was to travel out and back by sleeper (on Bargain Berths) and to stay...

    Sarah Siddons - 14/09/08

I've got my ticket! When I booked, they asked if I wanted to reserve a seat on one of the last trains from Amersham back to Harrow (so I didn't get stranded at the former), so for anyone booking tickets, it's probably worth having a look at the timetable first deciding which one you want to use.

Grand Central 2 for 1 ticket offer.

Is anyone having trouble getting the 2 for 1 working on the GC website? I'm trying to book a ticket for myself and Vegetable for KGX-Sunderland on Sat 23rd. I select the origin (Kings Cross) , destination (Sunderland), passengers (2) and class (Standard) and it brings up the list of prices...

Group pic from the meet. I'll leave someone else to caption as I can't remember who was who. Click for full size. I got back to Ash Vale at 2245, managing to make a +3 at Woking. The Exeter-Waterloo trains are ridiculously slow though, we were timetabled to sit for 20mins at Yeovil...

    ALR Trip Help & Advice

Unfortunately all the rooms I could find in Inverness were about £30 more than one in Dundee, which restricted our choices somewhat. All of our accommodation bookings are non-flexible, and the sleepers are Bargain Berths as well, so not possible to change. Anyone know how reliable the...

    Earthquake

USGS data here http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/shake/ous/STORE/X2008nyae/ciim_display.html I felt nothing in Ash Vale (surprising as it's only about 2 miles from Coxster), so I'm feeling quite left out. It might be I was just too distracted playing GTA at the time.

1938 Stock East London Line Tour

Photos from today's 1938 Stock Tour on the East London Line are now up on my site. I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more, given the number of RUK members that were either on or photting the tour.

My tickets arrived today. Apparently we get two half-hour breaks at Whitechapel, which will prove good for some photting.

Snow Hill (station in Brum and Tunnel in London) Of course, chance of any snow around Christmas in the UK is pretty much nil, but nevermind.

Why do Class 444's and 450's "squeak"

The noise did seem to change on them a few months back, can't describe exactly what the difference is, but it is noticeable to people like me who have to travel on the wretched things every day.

    A Little update!

See, this is what happens when you take a perfectly good Midland engine and convert it into a Southern loco. (And no, you can't blame its previous owner for the failure :-P)

    Basingstoke Engineering

Just so long as we don't end up fighting over Gizzy :-). You'd have to invite her as well since she seems to be living here most of the time anyway.
