Strange/unusual/rare destinations programmed in the PIS

It was a serious proposal by the privatised management, M40 Trains, to reopen the line as far as a parkway station in the vicinity of Lutterworth. It is described in the Pen & Sword published "Chiltern Railways - The Inside Story" by Adrian Shooter (published 2022).

Audio/visual "next stop" announcements on buses

The regulations require that which means some attractive-looking designs would not meet the letter of the law, likely including this one (it looks to fail on the destination).

Trivia - Bus routes which change countries

The most frequent bus route in Bitburg, a town of around 15000 in Rheinland Pfalz in Germany, is the Luxembourg-based RGTR route 180 from Ettelbruck, with just over half of the route in Germany.

Trivia: Closed passenger lines that have now been reopened and electrified

Thanks - poor assumption on my part, and failure to check other sources.

    Is BredaMenariniBus still around?

    Lancaster Bus Station problems

That's one way to look at it, but another is to consider it from the position of a bus driver who hits an errant pedestrian. Avoiding that controllable conflict in the first place is a much better way of reducing the physical and mental health issues that arise from such an incident.

New 'Wild west' signage at Norwood Junction

Looks more like (New) Johnston, which would make sense if it is managed by London Overground.

    Open-top buses & ENCTS

ENCTS is not accepted on the Thanet service, but there is a concessionary day ticket (£5).

Brighton & Hove / Metrobus Discussion

The ongoing operational cost of the Bee Network is roughly double what Greater Manchester previously spent on tendered services and concessionary fares. The net cost this year is £227m, compared to around £100m pre-Bee Network; not an ideal comparison, but as near to a like-for-like as can be...

Trivia: Closed passenger lines that have now been reopened and electrified

Prior to which the service had run to Tottenham Hale. When it was diverted to Camden Road, Lea Bridge was closed - which of course is now open again and served by electric trains.

Trivia: Closed passenger lines that have now been reopened and electrified

I'm not sure that's correct. Memory is that it started as a (Western Region class 116) dmu service, and certainly I photographed such a working at Clapham Junction in September 1996. The critical bit would be Willesden Junction to Mitre Bridge Junction, which would not have been electrified as...

East Sussex upcoming bus service changes.

The 1066 has never been more frequent than hourly. There was a brief period of competition (by Renown?) between Hastings and Battle, but going back to its days as Maidstone & District 5 (and later 4 and 5) and 254, hourly has been the ruling timetable.

What is the source for this statement please?

    Liverpool City Region-Bus Franchising

Yes, an authority can refuse a permit, and there does not appear to be a mechanism to appeal to a higher body (other than by Judicial Review). It can also specify conditions, such as ticket acceptance, and is very much involved in the detail of the timetable and frequency, particularly over...

South Yorkshire bus franchising gets go ahead

Oldest bus garage in the UK?

West Coast Motors depot at Rothesay? The site dates back to 1882 when it was opened for a horse tramway, but I think it is the 1901 rebuild for electric trams that survives today. The depot was allegedly a carbon copy of the one British Electric Traction built in Gravesend in the same year.

Trivia: UK bus stations not fit for purpose

Indeed that is exactly what it was. More remarkably, it was opened in 1939, and buses were rather smaller then (7'6" wide and 30' or shorter). It may have been the first example of a bus station with development above it, but definitely not the first covered bus station, which was Workington in...

    Peterborough-Huntingdon-Cambridge (new) Whippet X1 service

As long as the coach has a lift and destination displays, it meets the accessibility requirements for a local bus service. I believe Whippet's coach fleet is fully compliant with this.

    Liverpool City Region-Bus Franchising

In capital costs, most certainly, but it is not proportionate. In running costs, a Merc Sprinter is half as thirsty as a big bus.
