    FairFare – 26p/mile with a £60 universal railcard

It's probably time to ask a few questions.... Under your proposal how much would you charge to travel between Scarborough to Whitby? How would this compare to the fare between Scarborough and York? Would it be permitted to purchase a ticket from Scarborough and Whitby and alight at York? If...

Why are TfL's Zone 1 Day Off-Peak Travelcards so absurdly overpriced?

But note the £13 minimum discounted fare on weekdays.

    TOD same/any card collection

Is your relative eligible for staff discounted travel? If not, then there isn't a reason to purchase through RSTL.

Why are TfL's Zone 1 Day Off-Peak Travelcards so absurdly overpriced?

Also worth noting that with a railcard discount added to an Oyster card you do benefit from a discounted daily off-peak cap. However railcard discounted fares only apply to off-peak fares, i.e. starting a journey before 06:30 (a benefit compared to a paper ticket), between 09:30 and 16:00 and...

Single booking website for UK train services?

A sole booking site would be a very bad idea in my view. Just imagine a single GBR site, it would probably be clunky, starved of investment etc. It is the third party retailers that have led innovation in ticket retailing over the last 20+ years so let them get on with it. Different websites...

Why are TfL's Zone 1 Day Off-Peak Travelcards so absurdly overpriced?

There isn't a Zone 1 Travelcard. The only day travelcards sold are: Anytime Zones 1-4 £16.60 Anytime Zones 1-6 £23.60 Off Peak Zones 1-6 £16.60 Daily caps still exist for smaller combinations of zones. This is all part of TfL's strategy to encourage people to switch to contactless/Oyster.

Advice needed regarding Cardiff to London walk up ticket.

I'd buy a Super Off Peak Return from Paddington to Cardiff which costs £68.75 with your railcard. This allows you to catch any train from Paddington between 10:01 and 15:01 and after 19:01 on the Friday. On the Sunday you can use it on any train to return. I would book the ticket a few days...

    Ticket help - Euston - Elstree & Borehamwood (& back & back!)

Chiltern to/from Wembley Stadium station is a good shout on an event day. Not as crowded as Wembley Park. Take a train to Marylebone, walk to Baker Street (takes 5 minutes) then Met/Circle/H&C to Kings Cross St Pancras, where you can pick up your luggage before continuing to Elstree &...

LNER at Waverley really want you to use the ticket office

The bank takes the risk if your card is lost or stolen, so long as you haven't acted recklessly.

    Bleakest UK Station (Trivia)

But at least there are four places at the station where you can buy a coffee!

LNER at Waverley really want you to use the ticket office

Some LNER TVMs at Kings Cross have recently been put out of order. I wonder if this is because they are waiting for their chip & pin devices to be updated? Seems strange that LNER have dropped the ball on getting the chip & pin devices updated.

Delay Repay with SeatFrog: TPE Denying Compensation

I'd do it the same was as making a claim with a combination of tickets. I can't remember if TPE has the option to upload more than one ticketf or a claim, if they do then use that. If they don't then I'd upload one picture of the ticket and seatfrog upgreae barcode, add the prices together...

Delay Repay with SeatFrog: TPE Denying Compensation

TPE are incorrect, but it's normally best to include the Seatfrog upgrade as part of the original delay repay claim rather than trying to do it separately.

Son’s phone ran out of battery - ticket inspectors told him he could appeal. But been rejected

We don’t need to have this debate again in this thread. That isn’t the issue here. As has been mentioned several times paper tickets are not infallible.

    London Thameslink validity on LU

With the London Thameslink ticket you can go to Kings Cross, than walk to St Pancras and catch a Thameslink train to Farringdon. I’ve done that many times when I’ve got a LNER train from SVG to KGX.

Fare evasion - 60+ Oyster card - TfL prosecuting

This sort of thing is normally dealt with through the Single Justice Procedure Notice system. If you plead guilty then you don't have to go to the court in person. You simply indicate that you're going to pead guilty on the form, give any mitigation and you'll be notified of the outcome and...

Could some Peterborough to Horsham services call additionally at Welwyn Garden City?

Fast line headway is three minutes. As we said upthread the additional stops can be scheduled but it is very tight. It won't take much to go wrong (which let's face it, happens all too frequently on Thameslink) and then everything collapses like a pack of cards.

Could some Peterborough to Horsham services call additionally at Welwyn Garden City?

If you look at the following trains through Finsbury Park then you see: Peterborough - Horsham 8 minutes late (this is the train that made the additional stops) Peterborough - Kings Cross on time (this went ahead of the Peterborough - Horsham train) Welwyn Garden City to Moorgate - 3 minutes...
