Train EIC131 Varsovia Warsaw to Budapest

Hi, the stock, locomotives and diagrams shown on Zelpage are usually very accurate- it'd be lovely if we had pages like that for all of Europe and the UK! I haven't used EC131 in particular but I do travel fairly regularly in the Czech republic and occasionally in Poland, Hungary and...

Train EIC131 Varsovia Warsaw to Budapest

Here is the current composition http://www.zelpage.cz/razeni/13/vlaky/cd-131 CD stock, mostly open apart from one second class aircon compartment. I'd go first class, just for the bigger seat, extra peace and quiet and it's not that expensive.

Local Cross - Border (International) Services

Hi reb0118, you'll enjoy the line through Bayerisch Eisenstien, it's very pretty. I presume you will be using a good value Bayern Bohmen ticket? Other local cross border services in Czech are the 2 hourly CD trains from Jesenik to Opava via Glucholazy in Poland, the Znojmo to Vienna OBB...

    Omsi

Oh dear. One of the few things sadder in life than a trainspotter is a bus spotter, quite where a bus spotter that plays bus sims fits in is beyond me.... ...and thanks to this thread i'm now utterly hooked! If any of my real bus driving mates find out, I'm in for some serious ribbing...

Help- bit of a mess up with advance fares, railcards and advice etc

Thanks for the quick reply Island, I suspected that might be the case. I'll probably buy her the railcard and let her travel back on the advance firsts, at least she will still see a bit of luxury that way. Cheers :-) I know Mike, it was an expensive lesson for a kid on a low wage to learn...

Help- bit of a mess up with advance fares, railcards and advice etc

Hi folks, my daughter purchased advance first tickets from Wool to Durham for today (28th August @09.45) and back from Durham to Wool on 7th September. These were/are 16-25 railcard discounted tickets and represented superb value at £64 out and £79 return. All she had to do was turn up at...

    Newcastle to Carlisle

The tip i'd give is to sit on the right(north side) leaving Newcastle, better views of the Tyne rather than embankment side for the first half of the journey. If you drink there are a couple of average Wetherspoons a short walk on the right from Carlisle station, otherwise not much of note...

    Least scenic lines

Very true m8, doesn't make it nice to look at though and we were on about scenery (or lack of). PS don't get the wrong idea, i'm no snob- born and bred in a depressing run down colliery town in the north east- working class to the bone :-)

    Least scenic lines

Once rode the Southern service from Victoria to London Bridge on a whim (or was it a 455?). Anyway that's an hour of my life i'd certainly like back please. Think of a video stream of rubbish strewn cutting, grim housing estate, filthy terrace backs and concrete dereliction on a 50 minute...

Railway Suicide, Is it becoming more of an issue?

Seems to me that trains are considered a very effective suicide method though. Head on the track, guillotine, job done. Been very very damned close to doing it myself, life seems hell sometimes. I (obviously)couldn't see it through and went home, broken because at the last minute the thought...

    Germany-Czech Republic-Poland Holiday July 2013

Beer in Leipzig- try Ohne Bedencken, Bayerisch Bahnhof and Zill's tunnel- those were the places my mates and myself enjoyed last autumn drinking Gose- you'll either love it or loathe it! I'd also recommend a trip to Hel- be aware though that the trains do get absolutely wedged- the ones I...

There does appear to be a through service in the late evening 3 times a week, also if you look for Globtour.hr they lista service in July Dubrovnik-Budva departing daily 11.00 that may be useful?

Help identifying a DMU in ' TV program What Ever Happened to the Likely Lads '

Most likely a Met Camm 101 unit, as a 1970 child they seemed to be the mainstay of services up here, with occasional Cravens 105s. Love the Northern atlantean that howls past Terry too - ah memories :-)

    Danish & Czech Railway Museums

It's a lovely if rather slow ride. The climb up the valley side from Davle through sheer rock cuttings and tunnels is probably the highlight. If you do do it , sit on the right hand side leaving Prague :-) Another PS- there are very handy spreadsheets for the 749s (and lots of other interesting...

    Danish & Czech Railway Museums

If you want to catch/photo 749s they are still diagrammed on saturdays and sundays for some of the table 210 trains http://gvd.cd.cz/gvd/CZ_k210_130408_01.pdf from Prague to Cercany (look for the services without the wheelchair symbol eg Os9055). These run along the quite scenic Sazava valley...

    Remaining Volvo B10m's/B10B's in service

Can't help you with high floor B10s around here, but regarding step darts Pygalls coaches operate N755 OYR a now pretty rare East Lancs bodied version M-F on service 230 between Sunderland and Hartlepool- a decent 50 minute ride out. Timetable here...

There is a bus only road approx 1.5km long on the south bank of the Tyne between Teams and Gateshead, used by the x66 metrocentre shuttle.
