Transport for Wales Rail - Fraud Enquiry - 'Misusing Multiflex Tickets'

For what it's worth, my feeling is that the railway won't be put off pursuing this by arguments that the wording is unclear - the railway knows what the wording was meant to mean, so they will expect everyone else to be in the same position. But once someone who isn't in the railway gets...

Transport for Wales Rail - Fraud Enquiry - 'Misusing Multiflex Tickets'

Those of us who are here to give advice know full well what TfW are saying - each ticket can be used once, between A and B, or B and A - but not from A to B and then back to A, because that's two journeys so it needs two tickets. The question is whether a normal member of the public could...

    Macclesfield to Holyhead via Stafford

It's always open to the OP to buy separate Macclesfield to Stafford and Stafford to Holyhead tickets if limiting to only a single change is the important thing.

    Special Offers Discussion

Just to note that Barclays/Barclaycard Rewards now seem to be back up. They may be worth watching, but I'm not being offered anythign railway realted just at the moment.

    Appealing a Penalty Fare

I don't think that we will ever agree on this one, but for contrast, let me point out: This is the third and final appeal. So there's no chance of another go if it turns out that the appeal panel don't agree with your argument. It's also (in my opinion) a good strategy to demonstrate that the...

    Fraud Investigations

Welcome to the forum. The core question we probably need an answer to is whether - regardless of it being checked - you always have a ticket that is valid for your journey? 'Valid' means that it covers your journey from where you get on all the way to Liverpool Street, that if the ticket needs...

Transport for Wales Rail - Fraud Enquiry - 'Misusing Multiflex Tickets'

Welcome to the forum. It would help us to give you our best advice if we knew exactly what the railway are saying. So if you could show us the email (with your personal details redacted - you won't want the whole internet to see that) that would be really helpful.

    Appealing a Penalty Fare

On this point, it would be good if you could enclose signed authority from your mother confirming that she has authorised you to act on her behalf. You can of course write the note for her and then get her to sign it. I would hope that it wouldn't be necessary - but if the railway start...

How could public transport in the area be improved if Warwickshire was to become part of the West Midlands combined authority?

It's perhaps worth bearing in mind that joining the combined authority doesn't necessarily mean that transport management will be integrated: see, for example, the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, made up of the metropolitan boroughs which once were Merseyside, plus Halton (a unitary...

    Travel incident report

Hindsight's a wonderful thing, but it might have been worth collecting your ticket some days before travelling - just in case. But we are where we are. It sounds to me as if the first conductor was being a bit over fussy, and maybe wrong. As other staff think that you weren't in the wrong...

Advice on how to proceed with an nip letter

I don't think this is entirely true. In practical terms, it seems to me unlikely that a prosecution would be brought for a single incident of fraud (not a cost effective use of resources for the prosecutor) but I don't see any need for repeat occurrences to establish fraud.

Advice on how to proceed with an nip letter

You've responded as requested. So the ball is in their court, and it's reasonable for you to wait for them to contact you. If the railway does get in touch with you, then get back to us and we'll try to help.

No Response, yet confirmed receipt of Email.

Welcome to the forum. I know it's easy for me to say, and hard for you to do, but try not to worry. You have confirmation that both your letter and email were received, so it's down to the railway to make the next move. If they don't, then eventually they will run out of time to do anything and...

No replies after sending mitigation email to Chiltern railways for 90+days - should I email again?

Thanks. Useful to know as the OP isn't the only person to have asked this.

No replies after sending mitigation email to Chiltern railways for 90+days - should I email again?

Can you do this if you don't have the fines account number? As I understand it, that's the OP's current position i.e. they don't know if they have been prosecuted so don't know if they are/have been a defendant.

Thoughts & opinions “short fare” Goiva Thames link

It's probably fair to say that the view given here isn't universally shared: as OP voluntarily entered into a contract, OP was presumably happy with the terms of that contract. Otherwise I would expect to see long queues at supermarkets, car dealers and estate agents of people seeking to...

    Misuse of 16-17 Railcard

My understanding is that @RPI is in a position to know what they are talking about, but nonetheless it would be a good idea to plan for the worst, and be pleasantly surprised if that doesn't happen.

Serious incident on West Midlands Trains – planning legal action

I know this won't be what you want to hear, but please think about the impact this will have on you, against any impact on the railway. On the basis of what you have told us, if this goes to court you will be convicted of a crime. Depending on your contract of employment and specific role you...

    Most feasible new heritage railway

A while back, someone quite vociferously suggested steam on the North Mersey branch (Bootle to Aintree).
