    Fish and chips.......too pricey

Slightly off topic - but are there any traditional fish and chip shops in the centre of Birmingham? I've been working here 2 years and haven't found one yet.

    Route of Saphos trip

Thanks all - all booked. Can't wait.

    Route of Saphos trip

Thanks - followed most of this on Open Train Times. Does the engine change occur at the WCRC depot? And do the diesels stay with the train, or remain in London? Finally what happens when we get to Bath? Where does the engine do its 3 point turn? Thanks

    Route of Saphos trip

I’ve just gone nuts and booked Mrs BanburyBlue and me on a Saphos Pullman trip from Banbury to Bath in early December. I was interested in the route, as the train starts in Dorridge, travels down the Chiltern line, with the last pick up point being Gerard’s Cross. Apparently somewhere along...

    Disruptive Passengers Procedure.

We had it today. I was on the 16.45 Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone. There was a ticket check in progress. We got as far as Leamington Spa - frankly I was engrossed in my book and not really paying attention. I suddenly realised we hadn’t moved, and when I looked down the other...

    Fish and chips.......too pricey

I was quite surprised how much it cost the other night when we had fish and chips - £12 ish IIRC. But as above, we share a portion between us as the portions are rather large, so still cheaper than most other take-aways.

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson - yet another assistance failure

So what happens at unmanned stations? Can you ask for assistance at unmanned stations, or is it limited to manned stations?

Help please: LED bathroom light fittings

Yes, that what I thought. Buy a new LED light fitting and forget about it - didn't expect it to blow after 16 months!!

Help please: LED bathroom light fittings

Thanks all - I did unscrew the LED in the hope of finding some more information on the underside, but all blank. Just a tad frustrating, when the light fighting in question isn't the cheapest one you can find, and it failed after 16 months. So new light fitting then.

Help please: LED bathroom light fittings

Hi peeps, we have a LED bathroom fitting that went bang the other night. I took it down and as per the photo, the LED bit has blown. Does any one know if you can replace the LED inserts, or do I need to buy a whole new light fitting? I’ve done internet searches, but haven’t found anything...

Unlawful Use of SJPN by Train Companies for Section 5(1) RoRA Prosecutions

Surely the first point of call against a conviction or sentence from a Magistrates Court is the Crown Court, with a Crown Court judge and 2 magistrates?

Being prosecuted under s5(3)(a) Railways Act for expired railway card

Totally off topic, but the same goes for the young adults, who are in full time employment, who buy everything on the internet for home delivery, and expect the neighbours to continually act as parcel reception points. And also expect said neighbours to take the parcels around, rather than...

    Why is CrossCountry so overpriced?

Shouldn't have to do it, but you can make significant savings by using splits with XC.

Engineering works - how do I know they're complete

Hi all Is there anywhere I can information on the progress of Engineering Works? I'm due to travel from Banbury to Birmingham Snow Hill tomorrow morning, so hoping the 5 day blockage has been lifted. It would be nice to know that all is going to plan and time.

Cross Country Cancellations - Emergency Timetable

I thought things were improving, with some of the Reading/Newcastle's back, and talk of a near back to normal next spring, but obviously not. So what will happen on the 10 November? Was the 9th November a date pulled out of the hat, or do we think there is a grand plan to get back to normal...

Is Stratford upon Avon destined to remain as poorly connected as it is currently?

Ah - Bretts burgers - that brings back some memories.

    Temporary CrossCountry Timetable

I've just noticed, from another thread, that CrossCountry are introducing a temporary timetable from Saturday 10 August until Saturday 9 November. Does anyone know more about this? Was this a CrossCountry idea, or was it told to do something by the DfT? And what will happen on Sunday 10...

Does a Good Attitude Result in a Good Outcome?

I find it interesting that 90% of people coming on here for advice after being stopped by a guard/RPO etc, always say how aggressive/rude the guard/RPO was. From experience I've never seen that. Most guards/RPO officers I've seen have been polite, perhaps firm but never aggressive or rude. So...

Unlawful Use of SJPN by Train Companies for Section 5(1) RoRA Prosecutions

So, I've just read this thread properly for the first time. Apologies if stating the obvious, but I think the issue is that Byelaw offences can be dealt with by SJPN, and RoRA offences cannot? And obviously some companies have been pushing the RoRA cases through the SJPN courts? 1. What...

    Chiltern Inspectors

Had a Chiltern hit squad on my train from Birmingham tonight. Eight RPOs got on at Moor Street, two stayed in each carriage. Did a full check as soon as we left Moor Street, and clocked everyone getting on at every station, and checked tickets. They were still all onboard at Banbury. First...
