Trivia: consecutive service numbers running together

Not quite the same, but the 144,145,147,148 and 150 used to meet at Ilford Station.

First South West (Kernow & Buses of Somerset)

In actual fact the picket line at Penzance was in the now regular spot opposite the bus station at the pedestrian entrance to the car park, behind Sullivan's cafe, so not impeding that. At least it was when I went down there and when the press took photos.

    Erasing "wrong-uns" from history

I used to see the huge golliwog outside Robertson's jam factory everytime I visited Catford bus garage next door to it when I was a child.

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

That's the point, I never got to post anything or had even begun to write anything! I just treat it as a capture of my 'data' that they can add to their worldwide monetization and dominance programme.

    Cornwall Metro funding approved

I was replying to a post about the low number of people wanting to travel between the two termini. I'm not missing the point about the aim of the service at all, which I think is admirable and I support. 1723227779 West Cornwall hasn't had decent public transport connections to Newquay for the...

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

I signed up for Facebook one night before going to bed. Went to post for the first time the next day and met with a message saying I was banned for breaching their Community Guidelines!! That was two years ago and I'll never have anything to do with them again.

    The 2024 US presidential election.

When it all goes wrong for him at the first debate he'll be attacking ABC (it's his current hate TV channel ahead of CNN and NBC) for favouring Harris in some way - he'll probably then pull out of the following planned two alleging massive bias. EDIT Just found out that Fox are...

    Far-right protests

I really do take exception to the BBC for deciding jail terms are 'long', 'lengthy' or 'significant'. It is not their job to use adjectives to describe them. I'm sure it suits the government and other authorities to have them so described, if only to try to deter people from violent behaviour...

    Cornwall Metro funding approved

The twenty or so who hate the idea of a frequent, regular, cheaper, faster (usually!) bus service between the two, used now by some all year round, many of them students in Penryn, and lots more in the summer holidays I'd imagine. Despite my name, I'm not anti-train, in fact preferring train...

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

Thank you, that's very interesting. I'm glad it does seem to be a realistic prospect to achieve should it be found necessary by our government on our behalf. I don't in the main hold with bans etc but when one person or organisation holds so much power and behaves in a dangerously megalomaniac...

Elon Musk - the world's "greatest" spiv?

Realistically, could Twitter be prevented from operating in the UK if its continued presence was deemed to be inimical to the wellbeing of the UK and its citizens under whatever law(s) or decree(s)? I'm not asking about the legality of such a move or the ethics of such a decision, but the...

    The 2024 US presidential election.

Having worked briefly as a croupier in a London casino, I have an intense loathing of the gambling industry, though I don't mind an occasional go on the National Lottery.

I think you're right. I don't remember even hearing of the continued existence of the Merchant Venturers as a force in Bristol either, but I left the city never wishing to return for more than the odd couple of hours.

As you say, one can only hope, but I don't buy the view that these are long sentences, especially given that the actual prison time will be at most 50% minus time on remand. The guilty pleas are no mitigation in my view, as most if not all are captured on film. As for the defence briefs stating...

He'll be seen in Yorkshire colours about as often as Adil Rashid has been the last few seasons, or Jos Buttler with Lancs. Speaking of Lancs, son-of-Fred Rocky Flintoff is currently batting for them in a One Day match against Middlesex and is facing the bowling of Jos de Caires, son of Mike...

    London Buses Discussion

I would think if the police knew the bus station was being closed then they might reasonably decide they could use it for their vehicles. I doubt, though, that they'd just park vehicles and leave them there without some sort of supervision because of arson concerns.

    Far-right protests

I doubt facial recognition technology is being used too much so far when, more by luck than judgment, comparatively few people have sustained serious injury. For instance, three thugs dealt with by Plymouth magistrates (in the first instance) had their mugshots on TV screens today and, in one...
