Comedic "things you would ban": minor things that irritate you

A perverse attempt to 'shame' Tesco, I'd say, for blocking their Clubcard, not that Tesco gives a damn. It only impacts other, real customers and the poor employee who has to return the goods to the shelf. I've seen something similar happen in the past. Some people are just a pain wherever they go!

    Carousel Buses (Go-Ahead group)

All probably based on actual demand, and maybe a reduction in Heathrow subsidisation? Even so, it's just one route.

    The 2024 US presidential election.

So a conversation along the lines of ''it might be in your long-term interests to withdraw, so we don't have to resort to the nuclear option.'' In some states, voting begins as early as September, so there's not very much time for them to act unless they're prepared to lose the...

    Carousel Buses (Go-Ahead group)

A lack of interest in expansion doesn't necessarily imply a lack of interest in an existing network. I suspect First are keeping their powder dry.

    The 2024 US presidential election.

All in all, a perfect match for Trump until the inevitable cataclysmic (for both of them hopefully) break-up occurs when Musk realises he's backing a loser, again. First will come the ditching of Vance, then when that makes no difference in the polls all the talk in MAGA circles behind the...

    London Buses Discussion

Many reasons, but I think the primary one is the flat fare nature of all London bus routes. Before the introduction of the Hopper fare, each new journey required fresh payment, except when a through journey got truncated for operational reasons. I do understand that tourists might get confused...

Why are British men of every age so keen to display so much of their legs? When I go for my Costa coffee even in August adult men are more likely to be exhibitionists than women. Put your legs away, they are disgusting! Other European countries haven't adopted these habits away from the beach.

Simple, they don't want the hassle of bagging them up to bank.

Staff photographing celebrities without their permission?

Running my own bookshop in Cornwall for three decades I met plenty of quite famous people, and a few very famous ones, mostly actors, comedians and writers, but politicians of all stripes, cooks, gardeners and journalists too. Almost no photographic record of any of these encounters exist, which...

    Far-right protests

I can't believe they didn't know anything about him in this age of intelligence sharing, even though it was an Irish rather than U.K. passport used to gain entry. The more that is revealed about Yaxley-Lennon's past, even the most recent events, the more I reckon he's led a remarkably charmed...

Playing Devil's Advocate for a moment, if JSO are right and we don't heed their call, then the future doesn't exist so no history gets written!

    Far-right protests

We're all not just capable of hypocrisy but exhibit it sometimes too. For myself. I had some sympathy with both BLM and climate protesters but still felt that prison sentences were deserved in many of the cases. Devils are incarnate, mere humans get incarcerated.

    Supermarkets discussion

At Boot's you can buy 6 packets of 16 tablets i.e. 96 tablets in one go, but only if a pharmacist is present in the store, and even though that pharmacist is somewhere at the back of the store and you're some distance away at the till near the front doors!
