Correspondence received at the twenty-third minute past the twenty-third hour…

A 'double word score' is a fine tactical play, but it leaves you wide open to a classic counter. The Rayne Variations clearly state that any such move can be immediately superseded by placing a high-value tile on a triple-letter square. The 'X' in Uxbridge, when played on the Piccadilly and...

Correspondence received at the twenty-third minute past the twenty-third hour…

I'm a little late to this game, but I have noticed a worrying trend of players venturing far beyond Zone 6 without filing the appropriate paperwork. This casual disregard for the Travelcard Accords of 1989 requires an immediate administrative audit. We must all report to the Zonal Compliance...

    NET plea letter

It appears that your failure to pay has resulted in the train company taking you to court. I'm assuming you had a penalty fare of £100, reduced to £50 for prompt payment plus the fare owning of £3.40. You're now a little stuck and at the mercy of the train company. Two possible actions: 1)...

Delay repay dispute - EMR declining to refund full journey

Here's a starter answer that @WesternLancer may well be able to add to, based on their experience. Dear East Midlands Railway Customer Service Team, I am writing further to your email concerning my Delay Repay claim for travel on 30 June. I wish to formally dispute the compensation amount of...

    Help with HMCTS baliffs

Ask GTR to withdraw, nicely, dont see if they want to. Contact the court before the hearing and they will tell you if it's still listed. Only if it's still running do you need to go to the court. Don't trust GTR when they say they have withdrawn - confirm with the court.

Evidencing a failure to purchase a ticket for Byelaw 18(1)

It's truly something that you have "zero interest" in responding to what you're now labelling "baseless ad hominem attacks," especially after you just deployed an abusive ad hominem yourself with your "moralising of some guy on a forum" comment. Let's not forget, this isn't your first time...

Evidencing a failure to purchase a ticket for Byelaw 18(1)

It's interesting to hear your continued hypotheticals, but frankly, what plays out in a theoretical discussion often bears little resemblance to the realities of a courtroom. While it's easy to invent endless "what if" scenarios, the practical application of Bylaw 18 and how these cases are...

Evidencing a failure to purchase a ticket for Byelaw 18(1)

Sorry - I didn't appreciate that we were playing hypothetical law school, not looking at the actual case at hand or what happens in a real court.

Evidencing a failure to purchase a ticket for Byelaw 18(1)

A statement from the RPI, or as a live witness, would be sufficient. "I spoke to the defendant on the train. They presented a ticket which had been purchased after the train had departed Bournville" 18(1) Slam dunk.

Penalty fare - purchased after departure

If you're happy to challenge the legality of the PF, then not paying would be the route to take. If you do pay and lose the appeal, WMT will still have your money. There is also the risk that if you fail to pay the PF, WMT may look at your appeal and decide that the magistrates' court is not...

    Prosecution Letter

I fully agree with this assessment. Given your son's age, GWR would need to take this to the Youth Court. Generally, TOCs are very reluctant to do this. It's easy for me to say that I would offer to settle by paying the up to the anytime ticket amount for full restitution and show evidence...

Unaware of Court case for train ticket

If it's gone, it's gone. There's no point in worrying about the copy, as it's only insurance. The same applies to the SJPN line in the letter - you may receive a query back from the court if it was a SJPN, but it doesn't affect the SD you made. They may ask for confirmation of a Not Guilty...

I hope you have a certified copy of the SD. If not, please ensure you have one before sending it to the court, as things can get lost.

Unaware of Court case for train ticket

Compensation would have been ordered, as well as the prosecution costs. The court should be able to tell you who these were ordered to be paid to; that's the prosecuting train company. I don't know if you've been speaking to the enforcement staff or the more general court staff - you may have...

This refers to the initiation of the prosecution. It's section 14 for a summons or requisition, or 16E for a Signal Justice Procedure Notice (SJPN). It may be on the documents you have, or the court should be aware of it if you call them. If you are unsure or unable to find out, tick section...

A solicitor is very rarely "worth the money" unless you're dealing with TfL and/or have reached an impasse with the TOC. Most uncomplicated cases can be handled with the advice from here.
