Thank you this is all very informative that's reassuring that taxis are arranged by work. I'm sure il find out more this week.
So my closest big station is brighton but that one we can't get parking for (im guessing its taken up by brightkn staff) Barnham also includes Littlehampton and one of...
Aahhh OK that's makes sense!! Thankyou! Yeah so I know Barnham Little Hampton and I think west Worthing is all one permit. So il get that and I guess Chichester... just unsure about the 3rd. I know three bridges is the end of the barnham core route but how often il finish/start there I guess is...
Hi all hope you are all well.
Hopefully this is in the correct section! I am starting training with southern and will be based in Barnham once out on the rails. I had the induction yesterday and it seems to be once booked on the drivers than travel elsewhere to start their service. (Chichester...
Ah ok good to know yeah I'm only 40min drive from barnham. Think it's 30 on train so not a massive deal for me. I'm just happy to be coastal as I imagine is a nice route to drive
The assessments last 5 years l, so your second attempt you should just have to retake MMI. I think thr DMI last 3 years? Someone may correct me on that.
Bare in mind you get 2 lives. So 2nd time is your last chance as MMI counts as assessment.
I failed my MMI first time, it was a horrible...
Yeah that's what I figured in the end. I couldn't use the 3 and there was nothing I wanted to take off realy, I got essentials only, I guess the baseball cap was a non essential but I thought for summer I like having a hat or cap.
Because when you get the job you need to be within 60min of the depot you are based from anyway this is because they dont want you travelling 2 hours, driving a train for 8 hours than driving another 2 hours home. It will fatigue you and make it unsafe. so when you apply they take where you live...
Not sure it didn't say it just said use all your points. I got all my essentials (coats shirts trousers warm hats etc) but had 3 left. My only guess is that it's so people don't assume points get carried over maybe?
@baz962 That sounds very long winded, may I ask how did you get into that commute? I was under the impression with all rail companies that you HAD to be less than 60min from your station?
(Sorry had to tag you, I quoted your comment and it didn't quote it for some reason)
Yes it can be I work on motorways etc so to a degree yes. I am lucky also I have a friend who's been driver for thameslink for a few years now so I have had alot of advice and inside info so I have a good grasp on what to expect. Of course until I do it I won't know for sure but I think I'm...
I am starting training in Jan, I already do shift work in my current job. Although this will be a wider range of shift times it's also still goong to be less. I currently do 10-11 hour shifts sometimes 5-6-7 days straight. Maybe more if I'm covering a manager.
I am joining now because my 2 kids...
Well after 5 years of application, Thursday I passed my medical with flying colours and got a offer the same day, I'm starting my new career as a trainee driver with southern on Jan 13th. I can't wait! Wondering if anyone else on here is joining the same course on 13th Jan? I will be based out...

I came off slightly a couple on the first few attempts as i was getting used to how sensitive the controls were, I don't think you should be too concerned I think it's more make sure...
Hi all, I have my assessment day tomorrow for trainee driver role for GTW (passed this just over 5 years ago on first application but failed mmi a few weeks later)
So tomorrow I'm doing the assessment day again, 5 years ago when I applied the MMI was a few weeks after the assessment day, is the...
