What is behind the grilled area at the front of the first passenger coach and at the rear of the last passenger coach adjacent to the power cars? Is it more engine/machine/plant? Or is it just a guard's office or luggage store styled to match the power cars? This bit right here if I'm not clear:

How about a few of those Eurostar 373s headed for the scrapyard. They could be shortened from 2 power cars + 18 coaches down to 2 power cars + 2 coaches easily enough, right? Right?!

Very interesting! I didn't know this. Makes sense, hope they come off soon, although I guess TfL have other things to worry about with their trains at the moment.

I think the paint job would look a lot better if they were able to paint the front end orange like the 710s. Maybe this was the intention but they couldn't get it cleared through the ORR. Perhaps it's still the intention eventually.

Maybe Network Rail should just turn the third rail up to 900V for a few hours in areas where there's been some disruption. That'll work fine, right?

We're a rare breed, I admit, but there are those of us out there who actually prefer a harder seat and find the 700s seats more comfortable than the (way too cushiony) 319s... o_O

Am I too quick to ponder if that's part of some hare-brained crowd management scheme to get people to walk up via any route because they don't know which will be closest to their train? Probably not. I'm guessing it's still not open?

It's amazing how busy new London Bridge already is during the peaks. I suspect there was a lot of suppressed demand, i.e. people avoiding the station entirely, because the old station was so cramped you practically had to fight your way between platforms during peak hours.

I guess that explains why we're calling them GTis :D

All the construction equipment and coverings have now been removed from the undercroft area now - looks very very close to opening. Just some temporary fencing blocking passenger access. Suspect it may be opening imminently, perhaps even this weekend?

The noise around 0:55 as the train begins to move. Reminded me of the noise the Enterprise makes at impulse speed (as heard in the first 15 seconds of this video). Maybe that's just me!

The 345s in the tunnel make some great motor noise, sounds very space age. Any guesses as to which two stations are shown? The resolution is too low for me to see the roundels. The sweeping right curve and then left curve sugests to me it's TCR and Farringdon, but I'm not sure.
