That's exactly how I see it. For me the system gives some piece of mind as without it, there was a chance neither knew that had it and could of passed it with dire consequences. If this is the case, hope both are well.

That's my worry. Sitting at home doing nothing wondering if I will ever get back!! Cannot see myself being back until mid next year as it currently stands. My depot currently has 14 trainees and down to 5 DI's.

A large amount of DI's have chucked it with no intention of taking it back on. Its going to be a very long process to get current trainees through the training program.

If that's the case then there is certainly a change in policy. Previous it was get X amount of trainees through the school by the end of this year, early next year. Things are changing and nothing is certain.

I dont know exactly. But when I researched it for my interview 2 years ago, it was around 2400 services a day at that time, I think that was what it was anyway. I'm sure someone will be better placed to correct me.

The latest memo out today from the union states that ScotRail intend on cutting the service by 100-200 trains a day come the Decmeber timetable. As a trainee, sitting at home and not expecting to be back this year, this worries me for my job.

I'm work in the east. Like the previous poster said, the point of it was a lesson on how to use. I find it strange however that our tests were sent away for analysis, at a cost and when some labs are burst with sample backlogs.

Yes I'm a trainee. No idea why I was asked to take the test as told there are next to no DI's working so will be a while before I'm back.

Had a Covid test earlier this week but no sign of going back. Would of said that it is pointless just now however I now know how to take the swabs correctly for when things are up and running.

Read that on the latest ASLEF CC bulletin, which seems to suggest things going in the right direction. I still envisage an issue with regards to getting DI's into cabs. No one really knows the true number who are still willing to carry on DI duties although a lot less than pre-covid.
