Well, FGW have now returned the settlement (SDS cost) to this person. I find this extremely disappointing to be honest, Reading is a reasonably large station now and excess fares is very well hidden in the new layout given the direction and platforming of trains taken.

I'd get the one month return then you have 5 days to use the ticket outward - although restriction code 1X won't allow BoJ unless it's to change trains. As you are changing overnight this is permitted.

I'm not going to say where the season ticket is from/to, but consider it to be a Ryde one as it's completely useless in this situation (it's not on or near any route I would reasonably use between RDG/CBW->MAN). :-)

I use train tickets ;) - generally just a combination of splits. I do have a season ticket, but not on this route unfortunately.

What tickets did you hold (between which stations, advance purchase/single/return etc)? Did the itinerary that completely back up your journey? I recently had an issue with ScotRail that will remain undisclosed with a similar issue. They unfortunately were not helpful - have customer relations...

I also know that the TVMs will not tell you that this ticket (Canterbury Stations to Tilbury Riverside (route: Tilbury Excl Ferry)) is not valid on HS1 at any point in the booking process. :lol:

Yorkie, you've got it all wrong! They follow the code of practice, basically it says:

Was your ticket withdrawn by FCC? I would expect they wouldn't be stupid enough (if you couldn't possibly have used the tickets) to begin the road to prosecution. Personally I would write a carefully worded complaint to First Capital Connect that mentions exactly why your tickets were valid...
