Just my 2 cents on the matter but this seems so bizarre are we sure the employee doesnt have a disability of some sort, possibly a form of autism? It just seems a little odd but maybe theres nothing to see here and it was just an idiotic decision
If your brave enough take the regional 'express' from Valencia to Madrid. It took me about 8 hours, occasionally trudling along at max 40km/h. Painful to say the least, but some oddly impressive scenery!
My next trip will be to visit my girlfriends family in Poitiers (here dad lives in a disused station on an active freight branch) and then on to Valencia where I studied. I'll have to take a few stops on the way though at some of my favourite locations. Looks like my itinery will be:
London -...
I would say it has become clear that Eurostar did not need urgent financial support when this thread was started, as it is still here operating. Theres not much to add but on about page 3-5 I commented in detail about their pricing structures. One thing now will make eurostar more competitive...
The real reason prices have gone up is very simple: due to lockdown only essential travel is permitted. This means demand is fairly price inelastic as the demand decreases less in proportion to the price increase as the reasons for peoples travel mean the very option of not travelling or looking...
I believe these actually survived because of excursion traffic for the Henley Royal Regatta. Wouldnt be suprised if this is why they were installed in the first place too. I'm really struggling to remember if HSTs made it to Henley ever, I have a feeling they did but I can find no photo evidence...
If I see people desperately struggling with a tube map I will often help them if I can overhear the conversation. Pre covid I used to regularly hear French and Spanish families desperately trying yo figure out where they were going. On one occasion I was on a southbound Victoria line train and...
Please dont take it personally, i honestly didn't mean to offend you, just if you put timings in then i take it on what you said. What you said mathematically didnt work. We clearly have differing opinions, thats okay im sure theres no right answer. In fact I'm pretty sure if we looked just did...
Yes i agree thats why i think the 4/11 idea is really quite unworkable, but if someone can show me how it might, id be interested in listening. See my theory is after HS2, dont expect much money for infrastructure upgrades along the line.
Let me begin:
Why Gerrards Cross? It doesnt even have more passengers than the following station Beaconsfield.
Stopping most trains at High Wycombe makes sense.
Why is Haddenham and Thame Pway prioritised above larger population centres such as Biscester, Banbury, Leamington, Warrick or...
No, I mean what I said. Run everything through the core of crossrail and instead of westbound crossrail trains going up the gwml send them north to High Wycombe. I need more crayons to expand these 'very realistic' ideas.
Oh thats too easy. Double track the New North Mainline (or is it called north acton line these days?) All the way through to Old Oak Common, reinstate platforms at Greenford, run a crossrail serive through the core up to high wycombe instead of sending everything up GWML and heathrow
In this case we agree, I think i was actually confusing myself. I am so used to clockface meaning multiples of 5 past the hour and equal frequencies within the clockface e.g trains must depart at xx:00 and xx:30 instead of xx:00 and xx:25. I would argue the chiltern line is pretty much full...
Thank you for the more accurate information, i knew there werw two sections just didnt know the headways. Well the freight point is solved, the shuttle will only run peak hours and freight wont, leaving it to take its path if needed.
I should clarify my original point, A clockface timetable...
Thank you HST43257 for the timings. Maybe I mayself havent been too clear, so let me try to explain more clearly.
Lets say the service from Marylebone to Ayelsbury via Hw arrives at Princes Risborough at xx:00 for simplicity.
Xx:00 ayelsbury (no stops) arrive Xx:12
Xx:05 ayelsbury (all stops)...
That is what i proposed in the timetable as well, thus 4 trains on the branch, otherwise you are in fact axing the through service. Also it could be reliably done, i think a lot of people overcomplicate things here sometimes
Try reading, you isolate Ayelsbury from High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, and NW london (see ruislip). High Wycombe is a large centre of employment, which the train can serve faster than the bus service, and you underestimate the internal travel within buckinghamshire.
