Am I correct in thinking that until today's move with set 08, all the moves after set 1 were just loco plus mk.5's, no barrier vehicles, but today's move reverted to top n tail locos plus barriers? I wonder why, if that is the case?

It makes you wonder if these sets will ever be rebuilt and enter service. Rumours abound that TPE are now looking to retain most, if not all of the 185's. Without starting a "blame game" the mk. 5's have been a big disappointment. Passengers still rammed into overcrowded 185's three years after...

I'm afraid you're the one posting wibble. Friday was a concrete plan for a Nova 3 set operate a passenger service. Another date has been chosen, but I am not at liberty to divulge, no doubt it will leak out anyway before the event.

I tend to disagree, I would suggest that in reality a few dozen sleeper passengers are not going to make the overcrowding much worse than it already is. And given that, those not in a hurry may opt for the (hopefully) better conditions on the replacement coach.

The York refreshers aren't running at the moment.

It's not just aesthetics - plug doors would have been much quieter at high speeds and also cause less aerodynamic drag.

802 201 is now stabled at the Siemens depot in York, taking the place of the 68's near the entrance gate. Two 68's are still stabled at the depot, one (020) on top of the 802, the other (019) at the end of no.1 fuel road.

TPE 12 encountered a problem on its run yesterday. It remains to be seen whether this morning's incident with the sleeper at Edinburgh has any impact on TPE's plans.

Absolutely, but given the increasing training requirements on 397's and 802's which have taken priority over the Nova 3's it seems, one would expect that instructors would not be usurped unless there is real need for a Nova 3 set to be in service.

I understand training for Manchester Airport guards, who are the first to be trained on the mk.5a stock, starts on 9 August. But maybe there are other staff available to cover the role until the first Airport guards are passed out. Depends on how desperate TPE are to get Nova 3 into service I...
