Hi, Need a bit of information please, I'm fairly sure that my 17:32 from Newport to London Paddington tomorrow, Saturday, is cancelled, although RTT is showing it running, GWR site is showing it as cancelled. I know I'll be able to travel on the 18:32 arrives London Paddington at 20:20, but I...

Constant late-running of Peterborough - Ipswich GA services of recent

From Stowmarket towards Peterborough today the 08:10 departed on time, the 10:11 terminated at Stowmarket, the 12:11 cancelled throughout due to the late arrival of a previous service, the 14:11 left Stowmarket on time. As a consequence the gap from Peterborough back to Ipswich was from 09:57...

The last time I went out in late May nothing different at Harwich but coming back at Hoek customs sorted out the new system. I was in a queue of just me so very nicely done just a few minutes.

Using multiple tickets for one journey should be banned, with passengers forced to exit the train at the split point

Sorry I re-read my post to make sure it was correct, this was Cross Country that offered the price and produced the particular set of tickets. Many Apologies

    Delays at Calais

Fortunately I live in East Anglia and for all the situations given above I now avoid ferries between Dover - Calais and vv and also because of the lack of suitable waiting area at London St Pancras for Eurostar, especially at times of delays, I now use Harwich to Hoek of Holland ferry its...

    Round UK ‘circumnavigation’ by train

A few years back I got a B&B in Inverness for 2 nights in Inverness on an ALR, so I managed to add track coverage the following, Inverness (08:53) to Kyle at (11:31) then Kyle (12:06) to Dingwall (14:10). Dingwall (14:37) to Thurso (17:50) followed Scottisch City Link X99 from Thurso (18:30...

Using multiple tickets for one journey should be banned, with passengers forced to exit the train at the split point

In the original post the OP claimed passengers with split tickets were "gaming" the system. I recently purchased an advance ticket online from Bristol Parkway to Stoke on Trent with a Disabled Railcard. Priced at £19.95 I decided this was reasonable fare and bought it. Had it been noticeable...

Cambridge South : no parking (and local CCTV is dissuade anyone from stopping near by...)

I agree, not bland, just functional. That's why I couldn't understand the poster saying that Cambridge south was bland

Cambridge South : no parking (and local CCTV is dissuade anyone from stopping near by...)

What, in your view would make it an unbland(is that an actual word) station? Many stations fall into that category unless its the likes of Weymss Bay, Frontage of Glasgow Central or London St Pancras. Try loitering in the mid-evening at places like Sanderstead or Polocksields. Beaulieu Park and...

    WCML 2026 Xmas engineering works

Yep, some will stay the same but eveything needs to be double checked as the 'big day' (I loathe that phrase along with 'have a giid one' ) gets nearer. Generally last trains Christmas Eve are the same each year.

Cambridge South : no parking (and local CCTV is dissuade anyone from stopping near by...)

I agree, My wife had a lengthy course of dibilitating treatment at Addenbrookes and most times I managed to get a spot in the car park adjacent to the bus station. I was captivated as to how busy it was. Middle, Late afternoon almost every bus on all routes into and out of town left the Bus...

    WCML 2026 Xmas engineering works

I just popped Manchester Piccadilly into Real Time Trains for Tuesday 29th December, (I don't know if Monday 28th is a Bank Holiday as Boxing day is a Saturday) and quite a lot of AWC services operating throughout the route from Piccadilly down to London taking 2hours 10mins or so, maybe have a...

    WCML 2026 Xmas engineering works

I just popped York into Real Time Trains for Tuesday 29th December, (I don't know if Monday 28th is a Bank Holiday as Boxing day is a Saturday) and quite a lot of LNER services operating throughout the whole route, maybe have a look see if this helps with your plans.

Cambridge South : no parking (and local CCTV is dissuade anyone from stopping near by...)

My step-son (not a train buff) travelled from Harlow Town (the train originating at London Liverpool Street and calling at Tottenham Hale) to visit us in Suffolk. Changing at Cambridge on an off peak semi fast train he realised it was pretty busy for a late morning service and then watched a lot...

Cambridge South : no parking (and local CCTV is dissuade anyone from stopping near by...)

But I don't understand what you mean, Visiting Scientists, Surgeons (for Addenbrookes) and endless other profressions may well travel up from London for visiting, meetings etc etc., Cambridge fasts will be an ideal stop for these passengers and in turn they would need to stop to take people back.
