Couple of weeks ago Manchester > Southampton on Loganair. I read Loganair are pulling out of Southampton, so is the route now endangered (again??)? Was it previously Blue Islands, and before that easyjet?
Could easyjet do MAN>SOU>JER rather like a bus route?
Passed through today. Noticeable how few seats there are, of course very few on the current platforms. Not seen the upstairs part recently, but last time there were none there either.
Surely pax should have somewhere to sit at such a busy interchange? Why do few benches?
Yes, just use Gibraltar as an airport and head to somewhere cheaper. The eclipse then covers much less of Spain than this, which probably explains why prices to see this one are relatively low. I expect a large number of "locals" to drive in and out of totality on the mainland, expect roads to...
The angle of the sun will be even lower than we see in the UK, 3 degrees I think. Virtually sunset, so it could be disappointing even on a cloudless day if the atmosphere is dusty, but that brings glorious sunsets, it will be fascinating to see the effect at sunset.
Of course you need to be on...
This thread has come in handy; was thinking (using railcard and Manchester bus/train pass) Victoria>Huddersfield>Hebden Bridge>Victoria using Stalybridge > Hebden Bridge via Huddersfield (single, break at HUD) and a single Hebden Bridge/Rochdale.
Think the day ranger would save me about a...
Looking at the poll of polls over the past year, Reform have appeared to lose 1/4 of it's support since last October - they were certainly above 30% at one stage, now hovering around 23%. Some, of course, have moved to that other right-wing party and I can't remember their name and I couldn't be...
I use my bus pass add-on for local Greater Manchester rail so I'm not sure if this still is the case; Northern have a peak in the late afternoon (1601 - 1830?) which disincentivises shoppers and early night-goers. We also had a half-price evening ticket for the latter, now gone.
I'm sure it...
This site https://live.nvplay.com/ecb/ is far better for following a county game than cricinfo, and for one-day games often shows the DLS requirement as you go along! Also contains clips of wickets, fours and sixes if you aren't following on youtube.
Heavy rail - under a minute between Deansgate and Oxford Road (Manchester); must get round to timing it one day! Also Newhaven Town to Harbour under a minute.
DLR trains might (should!) have shorter times, and on the tube Charing Cross the Embankment is under a minute as is Leicester Sq to...
When Horwich was closed as the line closed, it took several years for a new station named Horwich to appear in 1999, that's Horwich Parkway, 1.7 miles (walking) from the original. Blackrod (1.3m) could be argued to serve the residents better? Must admit r/e the phrase "re-sited" is probably...
Who will finish first, Platform 3 or Leeds station?!
I assume trains from Bolton to Victoria will use P3 which should reduce the chances of delays?
The platform looks as uninviting as the other two; which is a shame because it's a connection station and there's nowhere warm to hide from...
My number's been x-directory for many years. Dunno if that helps or not; hard to tell! Best way to stop them. other than answerphone, is not to pick up the phone at all; if you don't recognise the number. If someone's genuine, they will ring back. If you pick up a scam call apparently you are...
Very smokey from a fire or fires on the Pennines crossing from Huddersfield back to Manchester - particularly short of Stalybridge. Hoping those don't reach the lines, and of course property and wildlife.
In the 80's our old landline had an "8" added to the front, so it became six digits not five. Wonder if we all had an extra one added these days whether that would stop the number of "Am I speaking to Mr Railway?" calls? As clearly they are from on-line directories from donkey's years ago?
Most spam/scam calls to me are easy to spot, "Am I speaking to Mr XXX"? My reply "Which one? They inevitably reply "Mr X XXX" and that's my father who died nearly eight years ago. Phone down.
