    Blackpool North line

Well it's simple etymological understanding. Wes comes from Westby and Ham comes from Hamlet. I had one Northern guard say Wes-ham and as I was getting off I said thanks for getting it right, turned out he lived in Kirkham. I've emailed TPE about this and got a reply saying they were looking in...

    Blackpool North line

Oddly I've noticed this too, wasn't sure what the reasoning behind this was. I've also seen Blackpool services stop on platform 2 (Albeit back in the First North Western days). A passing loop on the Blackpool South line would be very welcome and as I've seen mentioned on here previously a...

    Stupid things

My dad said this today! Followed by my brief explanation of signaling and blocks... :D Loving the arc welder.

    Stupid things

Had a quick search and found some old similar topics but I'm wondering what's the most silly/misguided thing you've heard a customer or an employee say on the railways? I can think of some on busses but not on trains, when the bus pass was introduced for over 60's I remember several people...

    Transpennine Improvements?

Then the usage would fall, most people use that service (atleast from my experience.) to get off at Piccadily.

    Transpennine Improvements?

On purpose I get on the TPE service out of Huddersfield to avoid the Northern service that stops at Victoria, every time I go through Victoria it's slower, that and Piccadily has a much better feel to it for me. Also from what I've seen the other Standedge tunnels have some structural issues...

    Location recording

I have to explain how I recorded them and provide evidence so, thanks :) , but I'll have to do it myself.

    Location recording

That was my train of thought (If you can forgive the pun...)

    Location recording

Aye I would probably tell them, but wouldn't want an announcement. Well I have to say a pacer is what I'm hoping will sound best but I'd have to do this somewhere between 2am-4/5am because too early, you get drunks etc and too late you get commuters packing in. TPE run services through...

    DM in cab

It's the same in any job, I used to do admin work in a supermarket (paid low, forced to run the store...) and the area manager used to come in (Call the wrong phone number to tell the manager he was there), just acting like normal would eliminate all problems and like a previous poster said you...

    Location recording

As anyone who's looked at my information on here should have seen I'm a music student, I am currently composing an electroacoustic piece of music that needs some audio samples of trains, I have to use my own recordings however so stock recordings are useless. I would like to go on to a train...

    Blackpool North

Read my comment about Wareings  It is right at the bottom of their Mill yard which had HGV's moving around and loading, not to mention a shed with this (http://image56.webshots.com/156/4/29/73/424342973cMyxYe_fs.jpg) and a few other interesting things stored there.

    Blackpool North

I believe (as I've got two neighbours working for them and I've been on the site a number of times.) the site of Wrea Green station (former) is on Waring's (Farm yard shed builders) land, though they may have moved all their operations to the new site they have now though... possibly an...

    Blackpool North

It is part time. Unfortunately I always seem to get to Preston when a train leaves for Blackpool North and doesn't call at Kirkham and Wesham, last Friday there were two! TPE and Northern leaving within minutes of each other and neither calling at K+W! I got off the TPE train and I met a...

    London to Huddersfield

Tuesday 8th March 08:26 - 11:23 HUD - EUS (Via Manchester) Returning 18:35 - 21:25 KGX - HUD (Via Leeds) If I bought the cheeper off peak ticket and returned by Leeds would a guard refuse my ticket? Thank you

    London to Huddersfield

Sorry I meant the £59.25 (16-25 rail card) month off peak return, it's only available if I use TPE and Virgin according to what I've seen using TPE's website, but for services via Leeds it's £105.25. Forgive any terminalogical issues as ticketing is something I know little about.

    Blackpool North

I can remember trying to get between the bus station and the railway station in Preston, I endded up in Deepdale... Was a long time a go. However I totally agree that the trains are quicker and if booked in advanced (difficult without a self service machine in Kirkham... Hint if...
