    Class 175s to GWR

Yellow stripes still identify first class (at least on GWR)

    GWR First Class (plus Pullman)

It’s been brought forward due to engineering work, should go back to the usual 1748 once it’s completed.

    GWR First Class (plus Pullman)

Full Pullman on the 1705 London to Swansea today, and a new menu for the summer. Six steaks were sold which was impressive!

    GWR First Class (plus Pullman)

Shared first class this morning with one Mark Hopwood. Only complaint was the hot water for tea was not very hot!

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

The morning Swansea - Manchester was a 67+MkIV set this morning, thundering away at the platform as I got on my GWR. Appears to have kept good time before losing 20 minutes between Craven Arms and Shrewsbury.

GWR accused of disrupting Wales-England train links by Welsh Government

This is true. Certainly my semi-regular Swansea-Bristol commute is a faff. Personally if they could run nonstop from Cardiff-Bristol, perhaps with complimentary coffee and bacon rolls for those buying TfW only tickets…

GWR accused of disrupting Wales-England train links by Welsh Government

Impressive that the timings for the direct train are no faster than changing at Cardiff for west Wales-Bristol and back. I imagined time saving would be an incentive

Carriage displays and seat reservations reversed on splitting train (03/07)

Even when the coach letters are correct, the auto announcements will insist the front 5 will carry on to Carmarthen, and the rear stay in Swansea. I flagged this to the guard once and he explained the front 5 would head to Carmarthen - it just happened they were the rear 5 from London… I didn’t...

Or order and pay when the guard comes round. Be silly to miss the food service by insisting to pay the upgrade first.

Heatwave 22-27 June - effect on the UK Railway

I’ve had just shy of a two hour delay on XC, but once the train arrived it was cold and there were plenty of seats. Aforementioned GWR connection at Bristol Parkway was only 5 coaches and very full from Bristol, becoming crush loaded at Newport, but the aircon has mostly kept up.

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

Yes I checked RTT and they all seemed to have run to time today (or within 20 minutes). The Mk4 set I took north on Monday was ice cold! I don’t really have any choice in my travel tomorrow. Suggestions for minimal disruption/heat welcomed (Sheffield to Swansea, open ticket) Presumably it’s...

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

Damn, I was planning to be on 1V39, the 1030 from Manchester. I thought they were performing very well yesterday, and minimal delays today. What’s changed? Are the 150s coming out instead?

Heatwave 22-27 June - effect on the UK Railway

Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway has cancelled all services.

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

Right now (about to depart Cardiff) it’s like an icebox. Genuinely cold, not just cool. Colder than the 800 I caught here, and the aircon on that was thrashing away.

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

Ouch. Dim Diolch. I’m on 1W55 (0853 from Cardiff), hoping the heat doesn’t affect them too much

TfW class 398 Stadler Citylink tram trains

the GWR 800 fleet can be actively cold even when it’s over 30 outside, some serious power in the aircon. They have the advantage of less frequent stops and vestibules however

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

My understanding from some chats with staff during very long delays previously is that everything is handwashed, ditto for the GWR IET/HST Pullman. As a result I always keep my glass rather than accepting a fresh one with a fresh drink! As for stock, having been on 1V50 when it did go all the...

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

The Swansea issue seems so easy to solve from the armchair. Could 1V50 not just overnight at Swansea? Refuel at Llandore? Save two ECSs and avoid Canton congestion.

Looks excellent, I have that to look forward to on my next ride in June

GWR changing app/website provider on 24th February

I’ve just messaged GWR who have said they intend to get this feature back soon, with it already on their radar before I messaged.
