GWR changing app/website provider on 24th February

Depends on your settings, mine you have to click to file and then add it - if I have an open return and am getting any train that day then I won’t add it, but with an advance it’s very useful.

GWR changing app/website provider on 24th February

An annoying change is that you no longer get sent an ICS file to go in your calendar and remind you of your train, which I’ve always found very useful.

TfW Class 67+Mk4 sets: trip planning/experiences, diagram updates etc

Looks to have been a poor month so far for the early morning Swansea departure being a MkIV. Hope it doesn’t go the way of 1V50 and just cease serving Swansea.

    GWR yield management?

Seat frog allows you to book a time period (morning/afternoon/evening) on GWR. Swansea - London is £25 or so. Having done it a few times you typically get put on the first off peak train for the morning period.

    "Doh" railway moments

A housemate of mine caught the last train to Swansea from a night out in Cardiff, fell asleep, and was worked by the guard in Carmarthen, who said grab a coffee and we go back in an hour - no charge, we’ve all done it. Hour later he’s on the way back to Swansea… and wakes up in Cardiff again

If you could have a classic car, what would you have?

Cool! I had a ‘69 Rapier for a year, bought in 2015 while at uni. £800, mostly terrible, sold it for £1200 a year later. Now MOT exempt, which is terrifying

GWR 1st class catering announcements, trains with no standard trolley

I understood the issue to be the announcement to all that first class would enjoy a variety of complementary eats and drinks, while standard couldn’t even buy a kitkat and some questionable coffee

If you could have a classic car, what would you have?

Worth a try - I’m 6’6” and have a Spitfire. If your more leg than torso you’ll be fine, they’re quite spacious for your legs

It’s new in the last few months, they do it on the Swansea-London trains too. Jars a bit to hear after each station stop to hear about the complimentary service!

GWR changing app/website provider on 24th February

I can’t actually plan journeys on the new app, it always says there’s a technical issue. This also means I can’t buy tickets!

    House of Lords Reform

Roger would be made a lord by invitation, and he probably knows enough politicians that he could drop a hint he would be interested if asked. My great grandfather was made a cross bench life peer to bring STEM expertise in, and my understanding was that the idea (if not recent “mates”...
