67017 at Manchester Piccadilly this evening. Will have worked the 18:53 from Cardiff.

Early allocation news for HD02 includes 1W11 on Tuesday 26th and 1W62 on Thursday 28th :lol:

I got a lovely email after the delay last week. TfW were really sorry about everything and wanted to make things better. They refunded 1 advance ticket (as per regulations) even though they could have been more consumer-focused and recognised that it was one of two tickets purchased together to form a return journey. Needless to say, they were less happy when I pointed out in my reply that they had only done the bare minimum in terms of compensation.

I did suggest to them getting in touch with CAF and then bringing back the hourly West Wales to Manchester :lol:

(31/04/26): 1W57 Cardiff Central-Manchester Piccadilly First Class 3 course Meal.

Starter: Roast Beef
Roast beef striploin on toasted sourdough with a vine tomato salad and peppery rocket. Served with a side of horseradish cream

6oz lamb rump on a fresh pea and mint purée. Served with Caerphilly champ, seasonal greens and a lamb jus.

A selection of Caws Cenarth cheeses - Perl Las, Perl Wen, Golden Cenarth and Caws Cryf.
All served with Cradoc’s crackers, Y Deli Apple & Ale Chutney and grapes.

Definitely won’t be HD02 as that’s on the Holyhead tonight.

The canton finishes tonight are HD07 on 1V62, -Edit- has ran to Cardiff via Chester very late

and HD01, which has had its own issues tonight on 1V50 with air con failing in all carriages and has ran empty stock to Canton which will need repairs.

67020+HD07 working 1Z62 from Shrewsbury, which looks like it'll be at least 90 minutes down upon departing, given it isn't currently expected to arrive at Shrewsbury as 5V62, which is going via Chester, until 21:13.

HD07 is running to Cardiff; The Shrewsbury - Crewe line has a points fault so it's had to run via Chester, which necessitated a shunt at Crewe as it had arrived on Platform 5. Because the guard is also stuck the wrong side of the problem, it's running empty as far as Shrewsbury and then in service from there. Or at least that's the current plan.

Apologies I thought it was going off down to ATC when I saw the headcode change to a 5, but that makes a bit more sense as at least it’ll now end at the right location and balance the books.

So it is possible that a 197 is going to need to cover tomorrow.

There was a habit of sending a Mk4 on 1W11 but putting a 197 onto 1W13 a few weeks back.

On this occasion HD02 is so embarassed to see me that it has escaped to Holyhead :lol:

Will see what turns up.

What has happened to 017 and HD02...? - They went to Holyhead as 1W97 yesterday evening (26th May))...and as far as i can see are still there.

1V91 and 1W97 since have all been units - and 025 and HD01 is headed there (Holyhead) on 1W97 tonight (27th May)....which means there will be 2 67s and sets there (Holyhead)...

There was an issue with the line yesterday between Manchester and Crewe, and 67029 also failed on Canton so the plan for today is:

- 67022 and HD04 on 1W11 etc
- 67025 and HD01 on 1W13 and 1V39, then working 1W63, with:
- 67020 and HD07 doing 1W97 after having worked 1V31, 1W55 and 1V42
- 67012 and HD03 working 1V33, 1W61, 1V62
