It would be great if it could render overhead wires obsolete, even on main lines, if they can improve the battery technology.

I have found information on this experimental 0-4-0 diesel shunter built as a demonstrator by Brush in 1961 and used by BR, starting at Gloucester.
Apparently it was returned to Brush but I don't know when ?

I know that they are a scrap yard but I believe that they sometimes keep locos intact for a while to see if they can get more for them selling them as a whole, rather than cutting them up asap.
I think some sources state such as "stored" because it is easier/shorter than "awaiting cutting...

Of the 21 Class 87's now working in Bulgaria, I recently noticed in a magazine article that 87017 is still carrying its "Iron Duke" nameplates
