Does anyone know why DB Schenker are running light engine runs from Cobra Railfreight (Whithams) at Wakefield to Wigan Wallgate sidings daily (or at least it seems they run daily) and back. Also what the train reporting numbers are ? There is one running today, it set off at 05:44 this morning

I agree, its difficult to classify them as a loco when they are fixed to a unit at least semi-permanently. Is it feasible that they can work apart from the unit ?
