Bradford FS 4th Platform (Construction updates)

Ironic that platform 0 at the buffer end is roughly where the end of the original pre 1990 Platform 1 was located. I believe services up until the late 80s or early 90s only ran to Keighley or Ilkley due to the awkward manoeuvring required at Shipley due to the station layout.

Bradford Forster Square 4th Platform Funding Announced: what improvements would you like to see made?

Bradford isn't poorly connected by rail and neither is it a failing city. This forum is a railway forum, not a slag off bradford forum.

Why Does Cross Country Keep Having "Issues With Train Crew” on Nottingham to Cardiff?

Could say the same.for all their services. They are appalling but then again anything Arriva tends to be in one way or another.

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

The bingo Hall and car park are in the former bus depot. The bus depot was closed partly due to the flooding and leaking. It closed in September 1997, quite a while after the half the site was sold to Abbey National. Metro have consistently neglected the Interchange and instead of investing...

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

I wouldn't call it unnecessary really, it protected the tarmac from the rain, a lesson now learnt and kept passengers dry. The BR architects designed the bus stands to be too short using the wrong measurements so only 72 rather than 144 were able to be used. In hindsight, far too big.

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

Totally agree with all your points, you make similar points to those I made earlier in the thread too. Glad someone else has said it too The 'new' interchange is no more than a tin shed, makes you wonder why all the money from the sale of half the site to Abbey National was not dully reinvested...

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

The interchange is not getting demolished. At least wait for the surveyors report to come back before starting the froth and wibble... The car park is coming down to supposedly create a better entrance.

Weird Middle Door on West Midlands buses in the 1960s

He sounds like the Oliver Bulleid of the bus world! I believe he was Bradford lad too, he was a student apprentice at Bradford CPT before moving to London Transport Executive and back to Bradford.

Class 195s should not have been ordered without two toilets; could a second loo be fitted?

Simple answer, go to the toilet before you get on the train. Be thankful the train wasn't cancelled.

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

I completely agree with your points and thank you for the further points that I was unaware off, particularly Tom Lord. It was a huge vanity project, I remember in the 60s BR had plans to modernis the Exchange but these would have proved a waste of money and resources. As early as 1989, Metro...

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

It would make sense to knock it down and rebuild but it would take considerable filling of the former bus depot to level it off as the depot now car park is at a lower level than the concourse. Also what about the Santander offices - would that part of the structure be left standing? 1706828833...

Bradford Interchange Bus Station closed until further notice

It's likely to be closed for quite sometime. The mayor usually sits on the fence having her picture taken unless it's something that gives her publicity, then she is all over it like a rash. It is thought the survey will say that all was not fine as the previous survey undertaken before...

Bradford Forster Square 4th Platform Funding Announced: what improvements would you like to see made?

That will never happen and serves no real benefit They should never have closed the old station.

Bradford Forster Square 4th Platform Funding Announced: what improvements would you like to see made?

It's going on the retail park side, Network Rail will have to buy some land British Rail sold. Construction to start in spring and be complete by the end of the year according to the newspaper article. Must be getting built out of wood.

Bradford Forster Square 4th Platform Funding Announced: what improvements would you like to see made?

I don't think there is enough room to make platform 3 full length without rather major earthwork to the retaining wall and hillside. There is a small line of vegetation behind the retail park that could be used though albeit with a few layers. I reckon the platform could fit in there as there...

Bradford Forster Square 4th Platform Funding Announced: what improvements would you like to see made?

Exactly. Could have made the original station smaller, sold a couple of platforms off to create a car park for the hotel like present and made a new entrance for the remaining platforms. They'll be wanting to demolish Centenary Court office block and put the station back where it was next!

    Calder Valley Line

Those things moved well in Morley tunnel too. The doors would fly open when a cl158 on TPE duties whizzed past.

Must say I am intrigued too.

    KWVR - Infrastructure Upgrades Funded

In the interests of froth and wibble, I believe more details are to be released by the railway soon.

    Preserved DMU updates

They actually look quite good and are no doubt cheaper/more efficient.
