In some circumstances. Only if trains are running directly between Salisbury and Yeovil Junction via Gillingham. When trains are diverted via Westbury as is happening soon the online systems keep throwing errors
This station which opened over 5 years ago is still not showing on the list of destinations on some ticket machines. Southeastern particularly bad on this, it's not available at Plumstead or Welling. When I emailed them they said there is no station at Cranbrook, the nearest is Staplehurst...
Ok thanks I'll look into it. Work pays so can do without discounts if much faster

Thanks @Haywain for your advice much appreciated. Anyone who is available, I looked into it more https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:Y21111/2025-02-24 shows the train will run from Cranbrook...
Cranbrook to Plumstead 24 Feb. Anytime early evening e.g. 17.39 or 18.39. Return journey flexible - can do Sunday can do Monday eve. I know there are some replacement buses part route on the 24th but that's not a disaster. But it's saying no fares, or only quoting £97 or £118! When it's usually...
I think your reference to 'short distance' reflects that you're in London (as per your profile) - there was a decided lack of street lighting in many places and I had to divert a longer way to avoid an entirely unlit river walk. I didn't say it was fundamentally dangerous, just somewhat unusual...
I wasn't there so can't comment on what might have been considered abusive. I always just ask and never have an issue. Those stations serve very long distance trains, it would be the same as the last Exeter to London being cancelled. In that case, it would be almost certainly ticket acceptance...
I've seen some very expensive ones done by staff, some excellent service. I've been taxi'd from Salisbury to Plumstead (London SE Zone 4). I know someone who got taxi'd from Bristol Temple Meads to Plymouth. I first hand saw staff at Exeter ST Davids arranging someone a taxi to Starcross (a...
You'd expect people to know back is unlikely to be good. Most 'normals' I know aim for the front, whereas experts either go for the middle or get station plans out
Unless disabled most people would use stairs on tight connections, and not sure why you'd be right at the back if you've a connection to make, move to a sensible place before alighting
consequences for whom? For the railway seemingly none as they say you should have got the previous train. For the passenger additional costs, the downside of 'personal responsibility', which may be impossible to reclaim

I remember it is caveated by 'if possible' but that isn't defined
This is a situation that may fill many people with dread. We know what's supposed to happen. We know what can happen in reality. We've probably all got experiences, good and bad. I've always found both GWR and SWR very helpful. I'd still be very confident if I got stuck at Exeter St...
While it might not be what you'd ideally want they do emphasise that they aren't responsible if you make your own attempts to mitigate the delay and that you need to follow staff advice. This is advice I've seen many times - so maybe it's just one to leave and remember next time to ask? However...
Do we know which retailers have this requirement? So that these retailers can be avoided where the requirement cannot be met, e.g. getting tickets for someone else or for a business trip?
We are aware of an issue with emails from the Forum to Microsoft-based email accounts (hotmail/outlook/live.com email addresses). This is being looked into currently, thanks for your patience meanwhile.
