My worst one was when I was on the way to London for the Scotland-Brazil game at Emirates. Boarded The Highland Chieftain at Perth. No Problems until we made an unscheduled stop at Durham. Due to a missing signal part, we were up and running an hour later. Then at Darlington the problem got...
Sorry if there's already another thread on this by the way.
As we all know Scotland are holding a referendum in 2014. Will it affect the ECML/WCML if we all vote Yes ? Do you think we need to show passports and do security checks ? I know it's probably a bit early to ask. I must admit I hope...
2 hourly! Surely 4 EC per day to Aberdeen from England is enough. Let alone the 2 XC services which terminate there. Adding the sleeper thats 7 trains per day going from Aberdeen to England. That's surely more than enough. Don't know why everyone would add extra services to Aberdeen when...
I feel there should more England services. I think there should be 2 INVSS and 2 ABDN daytime services from England, Instead of the 1 INVSS and 3 ABDN. If there is never going to be an extra Highland Mainline service from England would you think it would be better to divert an England to...
As far as training is concerned i'm sure there are plenty of Scotrail train crew members who would happily apply for XC. Instead of training the original staff for the route it would be easierfor XC to train a former Scotrail employee because 1- They would only be trained on THE XC trains as...
If this was Originating from Carlisle instead of Scotland then I could see this working. But I don't think people from Lockerbie (and Northwards) would be very happy having to go all the way around via Settle when all they want to do is get from A-B as quickly as possible.
If I made this a...
Instead of coupling with the Aberdeen-Penzance maybe it could couple to the Dundee-Plymouth. That means it could leave Inverness 20 mins before the East Coast. Could that work ?
The service from Plymouth to Aberdeen should run as Eight or Nine coaches and should split at Edinburgh. The Aberdeen portion will go via Markinch and Leauchers, and the Inverness portion continue to Haymarket, Falkirk, Stirling, Gleneagles, Perth and stations to Inverness.
Same on the way back...
See when Cross Rail is complete, do you think 357s are an option for EG via Falkirk High ?? (That is if the new trains will run Fenchurch St). Even though it will need refurbishment to add better seats and 2-2 configuration and of course 1st class, it's so similar to the 170 that it would only...
It's a waste of a facility and money. If they used it then it would've provided more hot snacks which leaves passengers with more options for food and more of a chance of making money. But if it's not going to be used then it's a waste of seats as well.
It would have been great use for longer services such as Edinburgh/Glasgow - Inverness/Elgin. Wonder how one of these on the West Highland Line or Far North Line would pan out ?
a couple of months back the trains were refurbished with the Saltire seats and floors, and de-classified first class. But the shop wasn't removed for some reason.
Are Scotrail still planning on using the Shop car on the 170/3 (former Hull Trains) ? I remember they tried selling food in it a couple of years ago but I've not seen anything since then.
I would just like to say no matter what forum this is , it should be important to show respect for those who died 12 years ago today. RIP those who died on that faitful day ! RIP, GBNF !!!
