How to find less dispensed tickets seems to come up a lot - do none of the ticket systems have a simple keyword search function? What decade are they from?
Not sure how it sounds dodgy. If the OP knew he was travelling to a barriered station and wouldn't be able to get through, doesn't seem to be a very sensible attempt to fare dodge with a 100% chance of getting caught? Seems a perfectly plausible story. Glad you got it all sorted and for sharing...
I wait until we get sent the £15 off £60 worth of shopping, or 20% off a delivery offers through from any of the shops, then stock up on the essential stuff that almost never ever changes price or is never really undercut by other offers on smaller packs, such as big bags of cat litter and big...
The overwhelming message from a lot of these threads is "because the majority (of those caught) probably fare dodge and try it on, the honest person in a unique situation will be tarred with the same brush unless they can prove otherwise". Considering myself one of the honest ones (I await to be...
Just passed through Singapore, where the tourist travel card costs £5 deposit, can only be bought from 10 stations during certain hours (so you have to buy a single there in the first place), and has to be returned to a station from those 10 within 5 days or the £5 is lost.
I don't get it. If a strike is designed to make people aware of the situation and convince the employer to take action, this sort of timing only often (IMO) serves to make everyone think the strikers are just a little bit selfish.
It only has the potential to end in a bad news (most likely...
Are there any railcards that offer a different discount to 1/3? Why the need for all the different codes like Y-P when surely RCD will do to encompass them all (or all in the 1/3 off bracket). Once got caught out by a TVM printing Y-P instead of RCD on my ticket (no idea why and double checked...
I try and avoid the TVMs as much as possible as:
- They often have issues when buying multiple tickets to the same destination, especially where railcards are involved. I had to input and pay for four separate tickets for a one way journey for four of us to the same destination on a Scotrail...
I used to live in Barcelona; on the RENFE in Catalunya (I guess it's the same in the rest of Spain?) everyone wanders across the tracks. You wouldn't sue the council if you got run over crossing the road (I'd hope), so why it is seen as everyone else's fault when they get hurt or killed crossing...
Was there not a video doing the rounds a couple of years back of a guy on a Scottish train kicking a youngster off when he refused to buy a ticket?
The guard on a train I was on last week took great pleasure in pulling the earphones out of an individual's lugs who had suddenly fallen into a...
What is ENCTS? (I'm a relative ignoramus when it comes to some abbreviations)...
As I travelled with a friend last night, we will now certainly in future never take the bus - the relative comfort (less bumpy ride, no waiting around in the wind and rain), ease (no walk at either end), and cost...
I sold my car last week, and have determined to use more public transport.
This led me to take the bus from Longridge to Hesketh Bank, changing in Preston. Two singles needed, said the Stagecoach Customer Services - £2.30 on 1 to Preston and £3.90 on 2 to HB. Or buy a dayrider for £4.20. Sold...
Now that daytripper plus would've been a good one to know about! I found the ticket selection for the network a bit confusing and lacking in handy maps around the place or on offer at the stations. It is very good value for all day travel though once you've got your head round it.
Thanks - I think I'll try and factor that in later this week on 'football day'. I went to Stourbridge in the end, laughed at that little toy train, then walked over the Clent Hills in a big loop back to Halesowen. Bloody glad I've just found the BrewDog next to New Street...
As an addition, the NRE website doesn't mention a discount on the WMDR for a HM Forces Railcard - is this just a case of it not being arsed to list all the railcards?
